Chapter 6

"I wonder what brought my dear little sister to my room?", Evan said with an angelic smile. One would be easily deceived by his appearance if they didn't know about his viciousness. Violet sat down in front of him crossing her legs in a authouritative manner.

"I just wanted to see how you were doing, big brother", she smiled back. There was a reason behind Violet being chosen as the duke in place of the first born Evan. For many generations, only the king and the Savine family knew regarding the incident of Macaire Savine since almost all the aristocratic families during the incident were wiped out by him.

After finding out the matter concerning Violet's null core, a sign of non-mana user, he immedietly took action to make sure Violet would take the place. His intentions were quite clear, he desired to cut the line of Savine's dual core. Violet was the only odd one out with a null core, who was the first descendent to have it in all these years.

There were even rumours regarding her birth, suspecting her to not be a Savine. While all the Savine's usually had blond hair and green eyes, only she was an exception with Violet hair and Violet eyes. Her core was even more of a reason for the rumour to spread. They were stopped by the previous duke, that is her father, by undergoing a blood test, the result proving her as his daughter. Her uncle, theprevious duke's brother opposed to her inheriting the title as he supported Evan Savine. But the emperor's decision was in no way affected by his opinion. The moment she fails to become the head of the family, her future would in no way be bright.

Violet was fully aware of Evan's ambition to take over her title. In fact she had no objection to it until she realised that her survival as a normal person in the family of Savine was not possible. Living among those crazy monsters was a nightmare to her.

"It seems that my sister missed me to death seeing that she charged into my room without even knocking first", Evan remarked.

Violet was not dumb enough not to know that he was being sarcastic.

"You are right brother. I was so excited to meet you in person. Here, this is a gift for you", she pushed a box towards him.

With only a glance, Evan got to know what it was. He was quite expecting it.

"Sweetheart , what if I refuse to take your present?", his eyes glinted with wickedness with his lips curved up.

Violet walked towards him and whispered into into his ears," Then I have no choice but to make sure you do". She pressed her hand against his shoulder with a white light. Violet had not used her mana in front of anyone up until now. People around her believed herto be incapable of using mana with only Ana being an excpetion. Even her training tutor taught her swordsmanship to cover up her inability to wield mana.

At once his face became emtionless. Eventhough it was new to him, nonetheless Evan noticed her using light mana. There was a huge gap between using light mana and mending light mana into fire, water and wind elements. Only the saintess was able to use light mana itself instead of converting into weaker component.

While one needs to have enormous amout of light mana in his or her core to wield light mana it was not so if they transform it to other forms. Even the Captain of Royal knights was only capable of using light mana for a few seconds without fusing it. In order to use mana, one has to merge his mana with the natural mana present in the surrounding and wield it. Only those who have enormous amount of mana in the core and whose rate of recuperation of mana is almost negligible, can use light mana without fusing it. Evan Savine knew she could wield dark mana since he had once accidently witnessed it. Being able to use both was a completely different matter though.
