Chapter 7

Violet walked out of the room after giving her warning to him. Evan stared at the closed door intently for a while. A man came out from the shadows and bowed before him. Evan not paying attention to him started laughing hysterically, his eyes filed with madness.

"Violet, you are quite interesting, aren't you?", the man felt a chill but dared not raise his head for he knew that Evan had now found his new prey.

Violet, having no idea of what was happening behind her back entered her study. With the ceremony nearing, she had a huge pile of work in front of her. She called Ana, who was soon to be her secretary to her study.

" Any news yet?", she asked while reading the documents.

" Not yet", Violet sighed at the reply. She wanted to believe that the event would go smoothly, without any intervention.

Days went by and it was already the day she had been expecting. Violet was dressed in a off-shoulder crimson red gown with low decolletage, revealing her pale yet beautiful collerbone. After getting her make up done, she came out of the room. For one last time she asked Ana about her brother and after confirming everything was fine, she walked down the stairs with a air of nobility. She surprised the crowd with her beauty, as they had not expected the ignored child of the house to be this elegant and well-mannered.

A huge crowd was present, along with king and few important guest whom she had to greet before anyone else. After the formalities, the ceremony began with the king bestowing Violet, the family's heriloom, Soul of Phoenix, passed down by the ancestors of Savine family. It was believed the the sword was used by the original owner to hunt down the mythical dragon, Abeloth.

Violet, who accepted it, swore the oath of nobility and loyalty, therefore becoming the official duke of the Savine. There was a ball after the event as well as Violet's debut ball. To her surprise, her brother, Evan asked for her first dance. Refusing the first dance was considered to be rude and therefore she had no choice to dance with him.

Seeing him smiling from ear to ear, Violet was positive that Evan was upto something. She quickly gave a signal to Ana to guard the king without arousing his suspicion. He slowly moved towrds his ear, whispering to her softly his grin widening as every second passed. While it seemed to be a friendly conversation between siblings, Violet's expression worsened with every world he spoke.

Boom. Boom. Thunderous sound could be heard all over. When she looked over, she realised that her day could not be any worse than this. The manor was surrounded at hundreds of men who wore similar cloaks and masks. They were destroying everything and everyone, in their view. While the Royal Knights covered the king, Violet's people protected the guests.

In the middle of the chaos, Evan had slipped out of the crowd, wearing the same cloak and the mask as those people. Violet who was quick to notice it went after him. She casted a barrier around the grounds to prevent them from esaping. Just when she was about to catch him, he swiftly used a spell, attcking a 3-year old kid, who was standing two meter behind her.

Violet chose to protect the child over capturing his brother. She immedietly teleported the little one to her room but it was already too late. The boy's arm was hurt and he was bleeding in the head due to collsion with the ground. Violet sensed that the kid was inflicted with dark mana and was in need to be treated immedietly. A wound caused by dark mana was similar to that of a poison and might lead to death if not taken care within certain period of time. Although she knew Evan was immoral, she never imagined that he could injure a 3 year old kid ausing him as a decoy for the execution of his own escape plan.
