Hazel entered, with Day and Leo, her dad lifted his eyes, he was sitting with Ash for an hour, during the fight, Ash had locked him in a room, saying that he couldn't fight with that hand.
But he had seen the fight, he had seen Hazel dangling from the copter, he had seen her giving her speech, he had seen the way she handled it, and he had had no words to define how he felt, if this was the daughter he had been neglecting all her life, then who had made her like this? Who had made her so courageous? So confident, as far as he knew she was always an introvert.
Who had taught her how to fight?
These questions had crowded his mind, but now he knew, she was way more stronger than she had let on, she had learned all that by herself. All alone.
He looked at Hazel who had sat beside in the middle of Ash and Day. Leo sat beside him.
Hazel looked at him 'We will attack the second base in 2 day's, but just me, Leo, Ash and Day'.
He tried to interrupt, but Hazel held up her hand.
'That's final, I just came here to know what you did to my locket, that mom gave us all'
She took out the locket from her jeans and put in front of him.
He blanched, and a flicker of guilt passed in his eyes, which was noticed by Hazel, she smirked and said, as her dad avoided her eyes and just gazed at the necklace.
'When I threw it out of the window, you saw it and took it, and melted it in the furnace, you thought me unfit to have something of my mom's, the only thing she left me, you even saw me trying to find it in the bushes but you had statisfied your ego'.
He looked at her finally, his eyes held unshed tears, she smiled.
'I came here to hope what I had guessed was wrong, that you never took from me the last sign I had that she existed, but the guilt in your eyes say something else'
He croaked 'I-I... I am sorry' was all he could manage. He looked at her and saw a younger version of his wife staring at him, She smiled and shook her head.
Hazel stood up and left the room, the guys got up, Da looked at his dad, he didn't even knew it was his son, and he felt disgust, at his dad, the mighty Andrew Marshall, uncapable of having a family, without them succumbing to nothing.
'After all that all, a sorry won't matter, I feel sorry for you sons to have a dad like you, dad' He muttered to his dad, so low the others won't be able to hear, Ash and Leo nodded and left the room.
Andrew Marshall looked dumbstruck at Day
'Daniel' He whispered, Day just looked at him, His dad moved towards him, hands outstretched, to hug him but Day moved back.
Andrew's smile vanished replaced with hurt as day spoke 'You don't deserve her, dad, you never did'
