Grand Elder

One month passed in a flash. On the top of the 36th mountain, two figures could be seen clearly. These were Chen Jiang and Yin Xiu. Yin Xiu was seen cultivating while sitting cross-legged on the ground while Chen Jiang was basking in the sun in his wheelchair.

If anyone who knew Yin Xiu saw her, they would be very surprised. This was because Yin Xiu had progressed two stages and was in the 9th stage of the Spirit Apprentice realm. She was already at the peak of the 9th stage and Chen Jiang was preparing her to try and become a Spirit Warrior before the competition.

"The difference between a Spirit Apprentice and a Spirit Warrior is vast. A Spirit Apprentice only has Qi and can slightly supplement his attack. When you reach the Spirit Warrior stage your Qi will receive an element. For you, your element will most likely be Ice. If you use this elemental qi in your attacks, they will at least twice as powerful."

Yin Xiu was not listening and focusing breaking through. She knew that her master had said that to break through, she had to find the element that she was most comfortable with and bring it into her body. She was able to sense all the ice elements around her and she only needed to bring them into her body, but it was posing to be a difficult task.

"Stop."

Her master stopped her.

"It is not good to rush these types of things. It will have an adverse effect on your future cultivation. Now go get dressed. The competition is starting in 25 minutes."

Yin Xiu's eyes opened when she heard her Master's words. She immediately went into the cottage and got dressed. She quickly took her sword and stood in front of her master.

"Master, how am I supposed to find the avenue of the competition and go there in under 20 minutes?"

Even though Yin Xiu had gotten ready as fast as she could, she was still short on time. She remembered that it took her an hour to get to the gates of the Sect.

Chen Jiang smiled.

"Don't worry. Prepare yourself."

Yin Xiu was confused. before she could even react, Chen Jiang shook his hand and she went flying. Yin Xiu was unable to comprehend what was happening as she flew across a few mountains and started falling into a ring. Before she fell to her death, her fall suddenly slowed down.

When she landed, she looked and saw an old man looking at her curiously.

"Who are you? Who was it that threw you here?"

Yin Xiu replied timidly.

"I am Yin Xiu from the 36th mountain. My master was the one to throw me."

The old man smiled when he heard the girl's reply.

"Your master, is he Chen Jiang?"

Yin Xiu was dumbstruck. She only knew that the elders had called him Elder Chen, but she never bothered to ask him his name.

"I only know that he is known as Elder Chen."

Yin Xiu said with her head bowed down in shame. When the old man heard that, he started laughing.

"Very good! Lass, if you have any problems, you can come to me. I can be considered your Grand Master."

Yin Xiu could only nod.

"Good. Now go down the stage. The competition is about to start."

Yin Xiu stood up and went down the stage. She looked around and saw that there were many disciples that were surrounding the ring. Many of those disciples were looking at Yin Xiu with envy.

Yin Xiu quickly stood beside a boy. There was still some time before the competition started so Yin Xiu decided to strike some conversation.

"Hello. I am Yin Xiu from the 36th mountain."

The boy smiled at Yin Xiu.

"I am Li Jie. I am from the 27th mountain."

After introducing each other, Yin Xiu did not know what else to say. Before she could think of something, Li Jie asked Yin Xiu a question.

"Sister Xiu, I heard many rumors that the 36th mountain was vacant because there was a ghost there. How come you are from there?"

"Ghost? I don't think that is true."

"It's just a rumor. Anyways, you must be very talented to be noticed by Grand Elder Lu's disciple."

"Grand Elder Lu? Who is that?"

Li Jie laughed.

"You didn't even know who you were talking to? Sister Xiu, you should learn all the important people in the Sect within two days of entering. Grand Elder Lu is the second Spirit King in the Immortal Sword Sect after our Sect Master. He is also the one you were talking to earlier."
