I'll Drop You!

After some time, Somya pulled Varun with him to a room backstage. There was a small table with a cake in its center, and few people were standing around it. Varun saw the birthday boy standing in front of the cake with a small, fancy knife in his hand and wearing a birthday cap as well. He was the same boy, with whom Somya was dancing before in a corner.

Patients suffering from Heart diseases can not do any strenuous exercises. That's why they can only move his body a little while dancing. Somya was smiling and singing the 'Happy Birthday' song with everyone. Meanwhile, she was also elbowing him, gesturing him to sing a little, but he just stayed quiet. Somya could only sigh.

Somya moved forward to wish happy birthday to Aarth. She placed a small gift, wrapped in a red fancy plastic cover in his hands, and kissed his cheeks lovingly.

Then she hauled Varun with her to click few pictures with the child and later made him her cameraman.

"I wish him a long, happy life ahead,"

Somya said softly with a smile. Varun noticed she was smiling too much today. She was smiling like crazy since the time they entered the café.

"I am even willing to donate my heart to him after I die, but he can't wait for that much," she turned to him. She was still smiling, but tears can be seen shining in her eyes, daring to fall.

Being a doctor, Varun knows she isn't someone who was only sympathizing with him, instead she was truly concerned. Her eyes were telling Varun that she can feel his pain as if she is someone who is suffering from the same. He felt troubled over this silly girl's expression, and an urge to hug her to comfort her surged inside him. But he can't do that, not to an Indian girl, otherwise, he will be asking for a slap.

"Let's go!" they left the café.

On their entire way back to the alley, Somya didn't speak a word. She was still smiling. Varun frowned at her behavior. He had never seen her so silent before. This 'her' was new to him.

When they reached there, they saw employees leaving from work to home. Looks like it's 7 p.m. already. Varun can't go to his office now as it will look odd to Somya. He doesn't want to leave this silly girl alone with her dark smiling face. So his heart made him speak before his mind can register, "You can join me on the way back to your home." it was too late for him to regret it now, so he just let it be.

As expected, Somya's mood instantly brightens up a little she replied with a good nod.

"Ok! Then wait for me here. I will be back in 10 min." He moved towards the hospital's backdoor.

At Varun's Office

An impatient Rahul was equally dividing his attention between the file and the door. By looking at the file for a moment before longingly looking at the door in the next moment. Finally, his eternal wait ended, and Varun came with a hand full of food bags.

"Varun? Did you start working for part-time food delivery? NO? Then why are there so many Indian fast foodstuffs in your hands? You aren't the one who likes to eat this oily food, at least not for years."

Varun emotionlessly put the bag on the front table of the sofa and started arranging his things. "Eat," that's all he said.

Rahul's eyes lit up lovingly. "Really, brother? I can't believe you bought something for me. Not when you were out on da...I mean when you were hanging out with a friend." with that, Rahul wiped the non-existent tears from his eyes and started looking inside the bags.

Varun bought these foodstuffs when he saw the need to help someone in Somya's eyes. He doesn't know why, but he suddenly felt that it's a good idea to bring something back for his idiot brother. Thus, he ended up buying food for two people. But no worries, he has Rahul here, whose tummy is as flexible as elastic, so he will surely be able to finish everything on his own.

Varun left his coat and some files for Rahul to carry back home, and he left just with his car keys.

Somya saw him coming, so she quickly moved forward to ask, "You go home on your own, or do you have a vehicle because, if you want, then I can give you a lift."

Varun knows this girl isn't trying to flirt. She truly wanted to help him. But this made him more worried for her. By looking at the evident wetness in her eyes he thought, 'Will this girl be able to drive safely back.'

"I have a car...you can come with me in my car. Leave your scooter in the parking area and get it from here tomorrow," he moved towards the parking lot.

Somya stood frozen for a few seconds before following his orders.

When Varun came back driving a low-key Volkswagen. She quickly gets into the passenger seat. Varun sighed in relief that she didn't ask him anything about the car. Even being low-key, it's still a Volkswagen. One with good eyesight will be able to deduce its price after observing it. But she was clearly too lost to notice this.

Somya was never interested in Boy's stuff like cars and phones. As long as the car looks like a normal car, every car will be the same for her.

There was a strange silence in the car. Somya was leaning on the car's window while staring at the moon.

Varun can't keep his calm anymore.
