I'd Rather Be Your Moon!

At Somya's Office

Somya was having her lunch when her phone rang.

The caller-id displayed was 'Sweetheart Forever'. Somya picked up the call and greeted while eating, "Yes sweetheart, what's up?"

An old but stern voice responded, "Who was he?"

"Who?"

"That handsome guy who came in the morning for breakfast."

Somya banged her head on her table. She exactly knows this conversation is heading in which direction.

With a deep sigh, she responded, "Mumma, we are just friends and nothing more."

"Friends? What is the point of being ONLY friends? You should...," Mrs. Sharma started convincing her excitedly.

But before she could complete her words, Somya showed her a dead-end,

"But Mom, he is already married and even has an adorable daughter."

"What!?" Mrs. Sharma exclaimed in disbelief. Then soon recovered from her shock, "Oh! I thought he is single and can mingle with you but seems like..." she became quiet and released a long sigh.

"It's fine, sweetheart! I have you. If I don't find anyone, I will just love you till death."

Her mother teared up at her words. No matter how hard she tried to convince Somya, she doesn't listen to her at all. She knows her methods are mean by marrying her ill daughter to someone but she can't see her daughter ending her life without finding love.

How can Somya not know what her Mumma is thinking so she consoled her mom with some more sweet words before hanging up?

Days passed.

Now Somya and Varun talk more often. Varun is becoming more and more talkative day by day, all thanks to his neighbor 'Miss Hooligan'.

One day,

"Hey Angry Young Man?" Somya bothered him in an innocent voice.

"Yes, Miss Troublemaker?" He retorted back.

"I am having a very bad stomachache," she said in a pained voice. Out of habit, she even crouched on the ground while holding her stomach. "Ahhh.."

Looking at her crouching figure, Varun, from the opposite window, got a little panicked and said, "What happened? How did you get a stomachache suddenly? Tell me exactly how are you feeling?"

"I...I feel like throwing up." Somya said weakly.

"Why? Did you eat something wrong?"

"Actually... I know why."

"Tell me then."

"Uhm... I tried to digest something big but ended up with a stomachache."

"What?"

"Should I puke it out?" Somya said, now comfortably sitting with her legs folded.

Varun felt speechless.

"Alright, because you want to hear my secret so bad and my stomachache is getting severe, I will tell you.

I got a PROMOTION!!" she said in her most excited voice.

Varun got startled. He took no time to register the fact that she was kidding.

"You are truly an annoying hooligan!"

"Do you know, only a few people manage to reach this post at my age. Hurrah! I am so happy."

"Congratulations!" Varun was really happy for her.

"So, gimme treat!" she demanded out of the blue.

"Shouldn't it be you who should be giving a treat?"

"Alright, if you want it so much then I'll give you a treat."

"What!... When did I.." Varun then laughed at himself for being taken by her words.

"So? Are you free this Saturday?"

Varun didn't reply but he couldn't stop himself from smiling.

"Alright, it's decided then. Mr. Handsome and I are meeting on Saturday for a treat." Somya pats herself on her back for luring him in for an outing.

They talked for some more time then somehow they reached the topic 'Love'.

"Tell me Gorgeous, how many girls had you left crying after breakups?"

Somya knew well that he isn't going to reply but being a big gossiper, she was hell-bent to get things out of his mouth today.

"Come on! You have to say something. This is not how you should treat your friends. Tell me about your love life, and I will tell you mine. Isn't this a good exchange?" Somya tried to persuade him.

After some time, Somya's awaited reply came finally, "I never had a girlfriend!"

"WHAT! You aren't joking with me, are you?"

"No!"

"Then...what about love? Have you ever been in love?"

"I think...no."

"Wow...you are the 8th Wonder of this World, man!"

"Your turn."

"Huh..?"

"We had a deal of exchange."

"Oh...I...I have an empty account in this bank too."

"And you were calling me the 8th Wonder?!"

"Of course, you and I are different."

"How?"

"For me, Sir Arijit Singh's song and my mom's taunting are enough to break my heart. I don't need to hire an outsider to do the deed." she smiled cheekily.

"Do you want to die?"

"Okay, okay I will spill the beans. I never met anyone perfect for me that's why I am like this; rubbing salt on other people's wounds by asking questions about their sour love life, hehe."

"Tsk tsk," he smiles sexily.

"What about you, Mr. Single Since Ever?"

" Same here never found anyone."

"Oh, what do you think about me?"

"Do me, Somya, suits your taste? Do you think I look sexy hot?"

Varun frowned at this turn of events. He never thought of her in this way.

"Why are you asking me this!?"

"Because I have a cousin who looks just like me. If you like me, then you will like her too. The good thing is she is single too. You can date in secret. I swear, I won't tell anyone. What do you say?" and she started giggling.

Varum fumed. He decides to take revenge, so he says,

"But why?"

"Because you are single."

"No, I am asking why she? If I like you, then why can't I get you?"

Somya immediately stopped giggling. "Hey! I am unavailable."

"Think practically. We know each other well. I know you pretty well, you know me too. So, isn't this a more convenient option than yours?" he smirked. He isn't going to let her off easily.

"Look, if you marry her, she will be your wife, and I will be your sister-in-law, therefore half-wife!"

"What will I do with the half you? I want full." he smiled amusingly.

"You are getting my cousin as your FULL and then I could be your half-wife!"

"Oh! Okay. Okay, so it's a bargain offer!"

"Yeap, take one get half free!" Somya posed like an enthusiastic salesman.

"Ya! That makes sense. But if I marry you, then also I will be getting the same benefits, right?"

"I am here matchmaking you with my cousin, and you are flirting with me." Somya purred angrily.

"Wasn't it you who started this? I was only stating the facts." he chuckled.

"Everyone wants to be the sun that lights up your life. But I'd rather be your moon, so I can shine on you during your darkest hour when your sun isn't around."

Varun felt a pang in his heart. His smirk disappeared from his face.

"What do you mean?"
