Chapter 73: Anger and Hate

Long and sharp claws extended forward as a powerful strike connected with a translucent, faint flickering shield of transparent energy that was only visible because of the hostility and the magic energy that naturally flowed through Enychta's Dark Chimera's claws and teeth, as well as through every natural weapon or appendage he has in any form he takes. It's just something natural that helps him fight against incorporeal things like Ghosts or even Elementals where his strikes wouldn't be as effective as they normally are.

Is like fighting something that has resistance to non-magical slashing, bludgeoning, or piercing damage with a non-magical weapon in D&D. That's the best analogy I can come up with at this moment...

The shield of energy was flickering as if it was fighting to keep itself up and protecting the ones behind it, but this weak shield was not enough to the angry beast that wanted their blood, that wanted to devour their dead bodies and bathe in their blood most viscerally and horrifically possible way for having the audacity of trying to hurt his mates In front of him. Never hurt a wild beast's precious partner(s) if you want to live! Take extra precautions of the wild beast is a fucking Demigod, Son of the Primordial Goddess of the Night and can destroy your little asshole in more ways than one, that you will not enjoy.

With the sound of shattering glass, the shield protecting the 5 magicians shattered and exploded, making them look shocked at the hulking beast that walked towards them... Menacingly. Slowly, step after step, getting closer and closer until he was breathing down in their throat, eyes red in anger as he looked down upon them, his natural height going above 8 feet by now as his massive jaw snapped open and he lunged towards a magician. They were paralyzed in fear, not knowing what to do or what to think as in a cracking sound, the ground below the black beast broke apart as chains of dirt and sand gathered and locked the beast there. Encyhta began to fight and the chains visibly started to crack and break under the pressure of his muscles, in an angry snarl he turned his head to look at the attacker.

An old man that looked very much over his first century, brown skin severely wrinkled and old, his eyes barely opened as well. He has a long staff with the head of a snake on top, the tongue of the snake moved in and out of its mouth and it carried a single gold disc that had the symbol of the sun on it. Enychta would've recognized it if he wasn't blinded by anger and the instinct to protect the two bogs behind him, it was a staff with the Sun Disk...

The sun disk was the symbol of the sun, the focal power that represented the power of Ra, one of the Egyptian Gods of the Sun, but as time passed on and he became senile, his sun disk was taken away from him by a powerful mortal magician, that used it to empower himself and seal away the other Gods. The Sun Disk gives the ability to reveal something's true nature, breaking away any spell that hides things, be it illusions or not.

The old man in front of them was the Head of the First House, the strongest mortal magician currently alive: Iskandar.

Looking down upon the children that have been causing trouble in his city, Iskandar decided to investigate a little bit, when he sent two of his apprentices and watched from far away to see what would happen to them, he was confident that nothing bad would happen to them... Until they got kidnapped by the trio of unknown outsiders, he tried to track them but an old enemy cane to mess with his plans! Isis, the Goddess of Magic, interrupted his spells to find the duo, so all he could do was sense three other of his students to find the other two while he dealt with the influence of the Goddess of Magic on his spells.

After he received the call from his three apprentices that found his two other apprentices, he quickly teleported to their location to find three interesting individuals!

A giant black wolf beast with bat-like wings and a scorpion tail, this is the first time he has seen this demon...

The other two individuals were two young men, one with pink hair and the other with blond hair, the blond boy had a sword in hand as was paralyzed by his spell along with the pink-haired boy too. They were put in an illusion where they are trapped and will see their worst nightmare for a few minutes, it's a great way to make someone give up fighting... A little sadistic and ruthless? Perhaps, but still a great method! Iskandar had a grey morality, being alive for more than 2,000 years changed him, he has seen a lot of things and lived a long life, so he knows he has to be ruthless to those who possibly can be his enemies.

Iskandar watched in surprise as the wolf-like creature began to break free from his spell by brute force alone, which should be impossible, so this must mean the creature has resistance to magic spells. He quickly used a fire spell, a simple arrow made out of pure flames was sent forward and hit the wolf-like creature straight into the back, but nothing happened... Immune to fire? Iskandar smiled a little as his hand started to glow, he was going to cast a spell on the beast again when a portal appeared.

From the portal stepped out a tall, long-haired woman, the color of her hair was silver and her eyes were each of a different color: Silver and Jade. This was a person he knew, his worst enemy... "Isis... So you finally showed up, huh?" His voice carried with the wind, the wolf-like creature looked back at the two boys who were under his spell, Iskandar saw its body shift as it took a more humanoid appearance until it fully became a human with purple eyes and black hair, who ran toward both boys, despair on his eyes and worry on his heart as he pulled them close to him, only to realize they were not responding. "They are under an illusion..." The calming voice of the Goddess of Magic awoke Enychta from his shock, for a second his mind tricked him into thinking they were dead, but hearing that they were just under an illusion was somewhat relieving...

"So the old guy put them on an illusion?" His voice leaked poison even deadlier than the black venom that dripped from the second mouth just below his chin, Isis just nodded and Enychta turned towards the old man, instantly looking at the staff and smiling. "Let's see... Goddess Isis, can you help them please?" The Goddess only smiled gently, like a gentle grandmother, before snapping her fingers. From the ground below Pruno, hundreds of green roots began to grow as he angrily looked around, only to see Enychta smiling at him, it took him seconds to realize everything he just saw was only an illusion... Tears fell from his eyes as he never felt so relieved before...

As soon the illusion was broken from Luke, his body began to flicker as if he was fading from existence... But no, he was just moving so fast without leaving the place where he was, so fast that in fact, not everyone could see him, as if they were blinking all the time... His body was trembling as he held his fists together and slammed them on the ground, looking at the old man with blood in his eyes.

This was the first time both Pruno and Enychta saw Luke furious. Not angry, they've seen him angry before... But this? This is not anger, this is worse, this is... Hate.

What did he see on his illusion that made him angrier than Pruno?
