Cassie remained on the ground while she considered how to get out of the yard without being seen. She couldn't go through the driveway and risk being seen through the kitchen window. She eyed the back fence, and in daylight, could see the clear outline of a gate. Cursing, she recalled having to scale the fence when they couldn't find it. There was no other way out, so she jumped up, sprinted to the back gate, and slipped into the alley. She turned her head to the sound of Mona cruising down the alley. After easing the gate shut, she ran over to the van, and hopped inside.
"Pretty sure she didn't see me," Cassie assured Daniel, who had a nasty scowl on his face.
"Don't ever do that again! You put the whole job at stake. Again!"
"Oh, and you running in there to nab a stalker wasn't taking a chance at all? Pfft." She wouldn't for one second put up with his double standard crap.
He sighed, clearly pissed. "Whatever! You could have blown everything."
