This again? I glare at him. "I refuse. I have no reason to do so."
"Then you better not make any mistakes," he answers, pretending like I didn't just say no.
"Just grab your geography book," I say, my mood already ruined. He sighs as he grabs his stuff.
"Alright, please tell me what you're stuck on," I ask him.
"It's mainly the way of questioning. It's got so little to do with everything we have to learn," he sighs. "That, and I don't know anything about topography. I couldn't tell you where Washington, London, Berlin are... I don't even know what the town next to ours is called."
"I can help you with the questioning part, but topography is something you should learn. I can make some tests, but you will have to do the memorizing part yourself. There's no way for me to help you with that," I tell him after a few seconds of thinking. He nods.
"I'll make some easy questions for you. You can keep the book with you and see if it helps." I write down some questions that could be in a first year's test. Should be doable for him.
Or so I thought. How naïve of me... Out of the 7 questions I made up, he got 2 kind of right, and 5 just totally wrong. I sigh. "Hmmm, I'll explain the answer to you, and you explain to me why it didn't occur to you. Okay?"
"Fine," he mumbles, clearly not feeling like it.
"Alright, question one..."
It takes an hour, but right after we finish going through the questions, the study session is finally over. I've tried to explain all answers to him, but he just didn't get it. After every answer I gave him, he almost interrogated me. Why is that, how is that, where can I find it. It's tiring, honestly. I'm glad I can finally go home, eat, and sleep. I've been more tired than usual these days. I have to watch my health.
And so, our walk home starts. Our? Yes, our. It seems Jerah lives close to me, only five minutes away. We walk in the same direction. Both of us are silent. He has his headphones on. I wonder what kind of music he is listening to? I decide to put in my own headphones as well, putting up a playlist Spotify has made for me. After all, that bot did his very best to make it for me. I couldn't get it over my heart not to appreciate it.
After a fifteen minute walk in silence, we reach his house. He waves goodbye and walks through the door without looking back even once. Rude as always. I sigh and continue to go down the road. I had been so excited for dinner before, but now I don't even feel hungry, despite the fact that I skipped breakfast.
I force the dinner through my throat and quickly go up to my bedroom. I am tired, both mentally and physically. I close my eyes, but can't seem to fall asleep. I sigh over and over, tossing and turning, until I finally give up. I turn on my little bedside lamp and grab a book.
