"Nunu!" A cheerful voice sounds through the classroom. I look up from my desk, waking up from my daydream. "Whoa, you look angry. What's up?" Ari frowns a little as he walks closer.
"I'm just so tired. No matter how long I sleep, I just wake up feeling absolutely exhausted. I don't look as bad as you do, though," I chuckle.
Ari looks like he hasn't slept in days, as if the fate of the whole world is resting on his shoulders and he only has a few days left to save it. "Got some problems with Ezra?" I ask, concerned about his mental health.
He nods and sighs. "Well, nevermind me. I heard you've got some problems with Jerah?" he asks.
"N-no! Uh, well, he annoys me, yes." I look at my desk again. "You know him?"
Ari laughs. "Yeah, he's a bit rude, isn't he?"
I look at Jerah. He, too, looks tired. It has been warm lately, even during the nights. Luckily, I have been able to sleep through it, but maybe he hasn't. Not that it is any of my concern, anyways. As long as he does well during our study sessions.
"You're staring," Ari says, suddenly very close to my face.
I nearly jump out of my seat. "Geez, you scared me!" I half-yell at him. He laughs again.
The bell rings. It is Wednesday, and soon, vacation starts. I can't wait. Ari waves goodbye as he walks back to his own classroom.
Time passes slowly. The harder I wish for this day to be over, the slower time goes by. I sigh, looking at Jerah again. It seems like he is asleep. I would love to sleep now as well, but this is the last math lesson before the test. I try my hardest to concentrate, and in the end, I succeed in making some useful notes.
Finally, after what seems like years, the bell rings, signaling the end of the day and the start of club activities. I walk towards the club, still feeling tired, my whole body begging me to just go sleep right here, right now.
I walk into the club room. "Any news?" I ask to the other members, who are all already present. They shake their heads simultaneously, like they planned it. Normally, it would make me chuckle, but right now I don't feel like doing anything unnecessary, wasting my energy like that. Only Lucian looks energized, honestly.
"So, I guess you guys didn't sleep well because of the hot nights?" I say while suppressing a yawn. Caden and Noah nod lightly, seemingly not wanting to put in any energy in their movements as well.
"You have an air conditioner, don't you? Man, if I ever win the lottery, that's the first thing I'm buying," Noah sighs.
I hum. "There's nothing I'm more thankful for during this time of the year."
The four of us decide to play some calm and easy songs, even Lucian agreeing to stay low on energy.
