I barely get in the classroom on time. After snoozing my alarm five times, I woke up way too late, resulting in me being unable to eat breakfast again and looking like a mess. The bell rings just as I sit down. I grab my history books, not ready for such a boring lesson, knowing that I will probably fall asleep.
Jerah, who already had his history books in front of him, looks even more tired than yesterday. I still feel ashamed for my actions, saying such things without thinking about them first. I should apologize properly soon. I just hope I'll be feeling more energized as time passes...
No such luck. I fall asleep, until the ringing of the bell signaling the end of the period wakes me. I open my eyes and find two golden-brown eyes staring into mine. That immediately makes me sit straight in my chair, my heartbeat speeding up.
"You scared me. What is it?" I manage to keep my voice down.
"Seems like you're not feeling well. Do you want to skip our lesson today?" Although it is meant to be a question out of concern, his monotone voice, sounding the same as always, makes it seem like he is making fun of me.
"You're one to talk. You look like you haven't slept in days," I say to him.
He chuckles. "I do, huh. The heat really bothers me," he answers, more honest than I would've expected from him. It makes me frown a bit.
"You should leave your windows and curtains closed during the day, and air it out shortly after 11PM," I advise him.
Even though it's common knowledge, he looks at me like I just told him the secret to life. "Thanks." He nods.
During lunch, I feel like I am missing something. It is way too quiet for it to be a normal day. I look around. The usual sound of chatter echoes through the classroom. It doesn't seem like anything's different. Well, actually... There's less girls here then I'm used too. And the ones that are here, are not screaming. Ari didn't come see me. Is he sick? I haven't heard from him.
I seem to be making a very confused face, since the girl sitting next to me turns to me. "What's up, Nuriel?" she asks.
"Oh, I'm just wondering why Ari isn't here," I tell her. As one of his fangirls, she probably knows more.
"Ah, that's because his cousin is getting married today!" She smiles.
"Really? Well, thank you for telling me." Why didn't he, though? Normally, Ari tells me everything, driving me crazy most of the time.
Before I can make any sense out of it, lunch break ends, making me unable to message Ari. I sigh, grabbing my German books. This is gonna be another very long day.
