Silence. Neither of us say a word. Jerah takes his arm of his face, staring at me in shock. I feel my face getting hot from embarrassment, and my heart beating fast from anticipation.

But no answer is given. No words are brought out, or even a sound, for what it matters. I am about to say something, as I suddenly feel his grip on my hand loosen.

This small gesture tells me all I need to know, everything that he is not saying in words, but apparently with actions. It is enough for me to feel all my hopes drown in despair and quickly build up new walls around my heart.

As quick as my now shaking hands can, I grab my stuff, not even taking the time to put on my shoes, and get out of there. Without another word between us, I slam the door behind me, the bang concealing another, coming from behind that same door.
