ARTEA’S POV
*WAKE UP BITCH*
*RING RING*
Don’t you just hate that sound? Specifically the sound of an alarm that is telling you to get up, be miserable and face all your problems in life. Yeah well, who doesn’t hate it right?…
Reaching for my phone I noticed my friend back in Dallas, Martha, left me 3 messages.
Martha(today at 6:00 AM): You landed yet?
Martha(today at 6:17 AM): It’s been 15 minutes… you there yet?
Martha(today at 7:02 AM): You moved into a new place you forgot about me already?
Martha(now): Oh come on… WAKE UP!!!!!!
Who the fuck is wakes up at 6 AM?
Martha is a good friend, we’ve been friends since 1st year of high school. High school was a bitch and still is but she was there and I was in her shadow. She was the popular girl and I was the popular girl’s friend, both of us were in the cheer team and I switched to volleyball and then I tried soccer. What can I say I’m an over-achiever
Set our history aside, I need to message her back because she would put a curse on me if I don’t.
Me(now): Who wakes up at 6?
Martha(now): Well it’s a school day
Me(now): Forgot about that….
Me(now): but yeah we’re here… I’ll send pics of the house later
Martha(now): good! When will you go to school there?
Me(now): Monday so 3 days to go…..
Martha(now): Well advice from me don’t make a fool out of yourself
Martha(now): Loveyaaa!!!!
And that’s Martha her attitude kinda got worse…. Over time
THIRD PERSON POV
Artea went down stairs after showering and getting ready for the day. She wore casual jeans, army green cropped lettuce top, and black’n white converse.
The silence of the house is deafening, meaning her Mom got called for work and her brother is still sleeping. Making her way into the kitchen she found a note on the fridge…
‘Called for work, ready-to-eat’s in the fridge, go grocery shopping’
Nothing is ever new - she thought
Artea went upstairs and decided to woke her brother. Telling him what the note says.
“Yeah, ok now go….” Greg says sleepily. “Ok… just don’t burn the house down” with that Artea left. She called for an uber since her Mom’s car was being used.
With the money her mom left Artea went on every isle and got whatever was listed and not listed.
‘Gotta treat myself’ is what she always say to herself. She put her AirPods and listened to her music, that didn’t really lasted very long because she bumped into another girl who looks about the same age as her.
“Watch where yo—“ the girl who bumped into Artea was cut off by another girl who looks like her in some ways. “OMG! My sister is SO sorry she bumped into you!” The girl was excited? Ecstatic?
“Oh…uhhh… doesn’t look like it…” Artea mumbled which has heard by the two girls “But it’s fine I wasn’t looking either” she continued.
Silence… Awkward silence…
“I haven’t seen you around before… You must be new” the ecstatic looking girl asked Artea. “Way to state the obvious Kel” the first girl said which was ignored by the two although Artea was amused that someone else is as sarcastic as her.
“We just moved yesterday… I’m Artea by the way” Artea introduced herself giving a small smile. “I’m Kelani and this is my twin Krisana” the girl was now named Kelani said with all smile. “After all that talking, Kel we should go they need us back…” Krisana paused and then continued “home…”
Kelani looked at her and nodded and turned to Artea “Bye Artea… We will see you again soon” she waved off.
After the encounter with the twins Artea continued grocery shopping and went home with a feeling in her stomach, tingly feeling, like something with those girls she just can’t pin point what.
ARTEA’S POV
On the way home I saw a cafe thinking I REALLY need some coffee every day and night if possible. Seeing my mom’s car in the driveway, she is already home so I went in.
“Artea honey! How was grocery shopping?” Mom asked looking all smiley. “Uhhh… ok?” I hesitantly answered remembering the events with the twins.
“Ohh… that bad huh?” Greg butted in entering the living room while holding his phone. “No…not that bad just bumped into someone” I replied with a shrug not really feeling the events earlier.
“Well I know what will make you feel better…” Mom ushered me to sit and pulled out a small gift box, she gave it to me while Greg leaned in to see what it was. I opened it to see a key not just any key, a car key!
I looked at my mom and ran to the garage seeing a Maroon BMW Gran Coupe!
THIS IS HEAVEN
Greg was jealous of course, I mean I could basically drive anywhere I want. “MOM! Are you serious?!” I asked her while still looking at the car jaw dropped. “Of course! You’re 17 and needs to get around without having to ask for permission!” Mom replied smiling at my reaction.
I hugged her and thanked her for what seems like a hundred thank you’s. “This is a fresh start gift… and your Dad was the one who was gonna give it to you but here I am” she said sad but forced a smile.
I smiled back, hugged her saying he would be happy you remembered. “Cool… Tea you could drive me around now” Greg said smiling cheekily. “Get your own car…” I said to him dangling my new car keys he just huffed and pouted.
We ate dinner, mom cooked us some steak, after that I put the dishes in the dish washer and Greg washed the other small dishes and we went to our rooms.
It’s 9:00 PM and here I am facing my laptop looking at Dad’s previous books online.
THE IMPOSSIBLE
Oh how I wish Dad could tell me more legends, myths, and stories far greater than any human imagined like vampires, werewolves, witches, demons, and other creatures that roam every corner of the earth.
“Hey…” I was snapped out of my thoughts by Greg standing in the doorway of my room. “What the fck… you startled me” I said to him whisper-yelling-ish. “First day of school is tomorrow… just to let you know… We know how you could be…” he paused with a thinking face then continued “forgetful” I rolled my eyes and he said goodnight.
Ahhhh…siblings…
With that I drifted off to sleep
‘Wake up… You need to wake up…’
