Chapter 13: To Help You

THIRD PERSON POV

“WHAT WAS THAT?!” Kane’s arm was harshly pulled back by his older sister, Krisana, he yanked his arm away from her grasped and snapped at his sister “I DON’T KNOW KRISANA! IT JUST HAPPENED!”

“Keep it down!” Kelani was clearly annoyed by the two and by the situation she didn’t know what to do but to bring her back at their home or head quarters. The tree entered with Artea in Kane’s arm Rhett went back to his masters pocket and waited patiently.

At the top of the stairs is the three siblings’ mother looking at them with angry eyes making the three of them look away from their mother. “Settle her in the spare room” Beatrice ordered her children.

Kane carefully laid Artea on the soft mattress, “You’re such a trouble…” he murmured while gazing at her peaceful face. He noticed that the girl didn’t have that blank look or annoyed look anymore instead it was a relax expression it was surprising and it erupted butterflies in his stomach.

He retracted his hand that was gonna caress the girl’s face, ‘’What the fuck am I doing??’ He thought confused by his own actions his eyebrows furrowed and brushed the feeling off.

In the silenced room the mother of the three siblings stood tall with a menacing aura surrounding her. “Someone explain to me EVERYTHING” Kane explained everything from the start, Artea’s frantic state, Rhett, sudden surge of magic in her veins, and Krisana and Kelani’s arrival.

“That’s why I received so many messages from her…” Kelani mumbled which was heard by Kane, he grew mad at his older sister, “And you ignored it?! Jesus Kelani!” He exclaimed his hands falling to his side looking at her sister with a glare.

“”Well… I didn’t know” she countered it’s true that she didn’t know and she was not in the area where Artea was. She didn’t think it was THAT serious. “You should’ve checked then!” Kane’s temper was getting the best of him again, Krisana was trying to calm them down but the outburst of their little brother was hard to contain.

”Oh wow so Kane actually care for her?” Kelani mocked her little brother due to the fact that she was also getting pissed off by his behavior. Kane chuckled darkly “At least I didn’t brushed her off” Kane countered his older sister was now enrage by Kane’s statement.

Sparks and magic was felt in the room both of them ready to fight Krisana was hopeless at keeping them calm. “Enough both of you!” Their mother’s thunderous voice made them go silent, their spine shivered at the coldness of her aura, and they stood still for a second and regained composure.

“The surge of magic can still be felt in the area bringing her here will lead them to us” the chestnut haired woman explained to them “We have to prevent her to lose control even for a little bit… If we could cloak her presence that would be helpful”

ARTEA’S POV

I opened my eyes with much difficulty, my head hurts, my body felt like I fell from a 15 story building, and I felt nauseous. I felt a presence in the room and in the corner of the bed there was Kane looking at me with concerned eyes and a stoic face.

“How are you feeling?” He asked I sat up and eventually felt more nausea, “Like a I took too much melatonin gummies…” I felt his hand lightly pushed my shoulder back indicating me to lay down I shocked my head at him and told him that I was fine.

“What happened?” I asked him my eyes trying to focus on his figure, “You don’t remember?” He asked I shook my head at him and waited for a response but he just look like he was having a battle within himself.

“Ka—” Krisana and Kelani entered the room and the sweeter twin running up to me and hugged me saying apologies here and there. Which brought up more questions in my mind ‘Why did everybody looked like I was in a car crash?’ I though confused.

“My apologies Artea it looked like you were caught in the middle of a fight between witches. Kane wasn’t mindful enough of his actions” their mother apologized to me which didn’t make any sense “I asked for his help… what fight are you talking about?” I asked her my mind was getting jumbled and heavy again.

She paused and looked at her children “When I arrived you were close to passing out and a rouge witch got in our way…” he explained to me, more bile crept up my throat, Kelani shoves a bin up to my face, and I throw up my insides like there was no tomorrow.

~FLASHBACK~

“Mrs. Vertrude, can objects possess magic?” I asked her I was talking about the necklace but I didn’t mention it. I’m glad that they helped me but that doesn’t mean I could trust them. “Please call me Beatrice and as for your question an object can be embedded with magic but most of the magic cannot possess magic”

I nodded in understanding, “Did you… come across an object with magic?” She asked her eyes bore into mine and I shook my head, a thing that I love is my ability to lie. I just hope that she doesn’t press me too much about my question.

~FLASHBACK ENDED~

“They didn’t tell you?” Rhett asked me my face contorted into anger, I just learned that the Vertrude were lying about what happened 2 days ago. “Maybe it was for a reason?” He suggested getting intimidated by my dangerous aura.

“Reason?! That wasn’t their choice! They should’ve told me what if I—” I stopped and notice the necklace where glowing red it didn’t burn like the last time but it was like a warning signal. Rhett’s eyes were reflecting glow of the necklace “They must’ve done something…” he suggested racing his pointed fingers and light blue flares were traveling to the necklace, red and light blue met.

“They put a spell on you”, “What?! Why?!” I exclaimed, Rhett looked at me and shrugged his shoulders, “And what was that?!”.

“The necklace sensed it… You should understand it. It seemed like it was warning you” Rhett suggested me and I nodded. We talked about what happened and what I needed to know like not trusting the Vertrude too much or, maybe learn some easy spells.

Kane (today at 8:00 AM): Hey

Kane (today at 8:15 AM): Just wanted to check in

Kane (today at 8:30 AM): If there are any problem contact my sisters or me

I looked at my messages and there were 3 messages from the guy I wanted to avoid. ‘Thank God there is no school today…’ I thought, I ignored the messages to avoid interacting with them.

9:15 AM

I looked at the clock and went to the bathroom to shower and get ready for the day. I just wore a hoodie and shorts.

Kane (today at 9:30 AM): Wow read -_-

Kane (today at 9:35 AM): Check in Kel is asking for you

Kane (today at 9:45 AM): Are u alive?

Kane (today at 9:50 AM): Artea reply right now

You missed a call from Kane (10:00 AM)

No Vertrudes. No trouble. No trouble. No lies

A/N:

So I'm just gonna explain some things the 'object can't posses magic' and the 'object embedded with magic' are different so the 'possess' means most of the objects can't have magic of its own and the 'embed' means a normal object can be embedded with magic by a witch or a spell caster.
