CHAPTER 5: THE MYSTERIOUS CALLER

In Bangalore, a serial killer named Garuda threatens the city's most influential businessman by asking for ransom.

He kidnaps a high profile businessman's daughter Riya and holds her hostage. Without going to the police, he decides to give the money worth, 200 crores asked by the killer. However, this man accidentally meets the Crime Branch officer ASP Arjun IPS.

Since the threat call, he have been watching the movements of the killer and now the killer tells, "Oh! Police officers. You haven't gone to the police. Then, how could they have come. It's a work by one genius rught. How are you Mr. Arjun Krishna? The most soughted ruthless encounter specialist of Hyderabad."

Right after the tracing of the caller's location, he shifts to another basement and asks Riya's father to threw the suitcase in the basement.

After throwing it, they sees an oil boiler and in that, Riya had been cooked to death. As per the team's investigation, they concludes that, "The killer's main motive is something big. He had been using Garuda punishments and killing the victim."

Later, Arjun meets his six year daughter Anjali and takes her to school.

While heading, he puts an audio(spoken by her mother(his wife)), in which she have told: "My dear. Mom haven't gone anywhere. I am with you. Always there with you."

Later, Arjun's colleague Sub-Inspector Pravin calls him and asks to switch on the news headlines. Upon seeing it, he gets shocked.

Since, the caller claims to the police department and media that, "Former killer Garuda(reported to be murdered before five years) is alive and that's he."

DGP Narendra Kumar upon hearing this, berates the caller. Their department faces a huge embarrassment among the media people.

Arjun gets accused by DCP Ramkumar for fabricating a fake encounter.

However, Arjun's colleague tells him that, "It was done as an act of self defence. Since, Pravin got shot in his hand and inorder to save him from Garuda, he killed him."

Arjun takes over the responsibility of this case in his hands.

Meanwhile, Arjun's estranged brother,

General Gautham returns to Bangalore from Indian Army inorder to reconcile with his estranged love interest, Ishika.

While returning with his friends,  Captain Arun and Captain Krishna, he recalls how he had met Ishika and how they lead a breakup.

Two years back, Gautham was getting trained in Indian Army for joining in the Air force. At this point of time, to meet his brother and family, Gautham returned to Bangalore.

Upon returning, he and his two friends(Arun, Krishna) goes to a hotel. There, they saw Ishika, who came forward by wearing a cartoon dress.

She gives him a letter, stating her love. They struggles and finds her identity. Eventually the duo falls in love with each other.

At the same time, Gautham gets into a scuffle with his brother, upon seeing his ruthless nature. He leaves from his house, unable to bear and tolerate the violence. After learning his sister-in-law Nisha's death, Gautham stops talking with his brother. While, he continues to communicate with his parents alone.

Meanwhile, Arjun meets Inspector Rajesh, who investigated the case of Garuda initially. Seeing his inefficiency, Arjun admonishes and takes him out from the case and takes to investigate it by himself. 

At the same time, Garuda kidnaps Home Minister Ram Varma's son Deepak Goyal. Besides kidnapping him, he further saves a girl from being attacked and molested. Thus, letting her to go and have a normal life.

Again, he threatens the city. Now, a panicked Varma comes and is he bent to save his only son. Police officers bow their head down unable to do anything.

In addition, Garuda now calls the minister.

"Who are you man? What do you want? Leave my son" said the minister.

"Nothing sir. I have kidnapped your son. He is safely there in the car" said Garuda.

Officers try to open the car while, Garuda(eating Mutton biriyani) asks Ram, "Don't ask them to open sir."

"Why?" asked Garuda.

"Because, your son have been implanted with bomb. Triggered all around. If one slight movement happens, then the whole 200 meters place would get blasted" said Garuda.

On seeing the media people, trying to get into for asking questions, Inspector Rajesh tells,"I think they have all gathered around to die."

"What do you want? Hello! Hello!" asked Ram while, Garuda eats Mutton rice.

"Nothing much sir. I heard that, you have got 1000 crores in your office itseems" said Garuda.

"That's all rumor. Those who told like such, have been arrested by filing as Anti-Indian" said the minister.

"Hoooh....What sir! Those who complaints about corruption, then will our country ministers frame them as anti nationals. Your son, being a big womaniser, you have saved him from several troubles and cases. That too, he have committed 100s of rapes and crime. For that itself, 123 crores means. For saving his life, can't you give 60 crores of money?" Asked Garuda.

As per his instructions the minister agrees to give the money in hand. Garuda asks Arjun to hand over the money. Because the duo have to meet face to face.

While coming Garuda continues to communicate with each other.

"Arjun. Have you heard of a hunter's story?" asked Garuda.

He remains silent to the question.

While, Garuda continues.

"There were two hunters. One is lion and the other one is tiger. Both have different characteristics. But their target and ideology are same. To get justice. For that, both suffers various challenges and mental stress. Only difference is that, this tiger have to take time in order to get its justice. While, the lion is quick in getting it's justice. Now, the time have been for this tiger to hunt down it's prey. It's that much happy for that tiger, you know" said Garuda.

After handing over the money as per instruction, Arjun tried to arrest him. But it fails and he escapes from the place.

Later, minister's son is found dead near to the far away place of a bridge being tied and bitten by leeches....angered and infuriated by the loss, Arjun is asked to be suspended and his car too gets ceased as a punishment.

Meanwhile, Gautham gets admonished by his friends to meet and reconcile with Ishika.

He recalls what happened when he again came for a leave from Indian Army, a few days ago.

Ishika got selected in an Infosys company. Her colleague Raj and she became closer and this impacts and makes Gautham jealousy. Her avoidance makes him much more furious.

However, Ishika manages to convince him. But, she gets a call from Raj, who expresses his love to her. He further, talks ill about Gautham, telling him to be a government slave.

Angered to the core, Gautham severely assaults Raj and comes back to his home.

He further, breaks his phone, when Ishi continued to call him and gets drunk severely. Disturbed, she goes to his home when Gautham was to drink his first glass...she threws away the glass...

"Gautham. I have to talk with you. Can you kindly send your friend Arun  from this place?" asked Ishika

"He will be there with me. Tell me what you want to say and leave away from this place. I feel irritated to hear your voice" said Gautham.

"Gautham" said Ishika.

"Hey. I have to go for Borders tomorrow. Tell what you wanted to say and leave immediately" said Gautham.

She tried to tell about her innocence and Raj's apology, telling her that they would be friends. But, he is not ready to hear about it and asks her, "Arun. Have you heard this? Friends itseems. Friends means how? If anything happens between you too, you would tell as Friends. Am I right?"

"Gautham. You are crossing your limit. You are behaving cheaply" said Ishika.

Upon hearing this, Gautham becomes very furious and tells her, "Hey! Yes di. I am cheap only. I can't see to these things and be silent to you. I  should have thinked earlier itself. You can't stay loyal like your mother right."

Heartbroken, she breaks up with Gautham and now, comes back to present.

Arjun hears that, his brother have came to Bangalore. Arjun meets his parents in his house.

However, still he is not ready to talk with his brother and upon seeing this, their father tells Gautham that, "Arjun loved his wife a lot. Indeed, he have regretted a lot still now, more than Gautham."

Realizing his mistakes, Arjun and Gautham reconciles. In further, he hears the present Garuda case from Arjun and assures to help him in the case.

Garuda meanwhile, tells his plans to kidnap Ishika and keeps another guy as a suspense to the police.

Ishika gets kidnapped and now, Garuda demands 12 lakhs from her family. They gives him the money.

However, Arjun comes up with a plan to catch Garuda and as per his plans  they shuts down the current in North, South and West Bangalore so that, Garuda can be trapped.

Ishika is rescued unconscious. To take the money, now Garuda comes by himself. The shooter, assigned by Arjun is ready to shoot him. However, Garuda gets shot in his chest. Gautham saves him by jumping to him and takes him in his car...

Ishika gets admitted in a hospital. 

Now, Gautham sees Arjun and tells, "Game begins."

Arjun is furious upon seeing Gautham's behvaiour. Even his two Captain friends are furious to him. The city is alerted by police and the case not goes to another police officer.

Arjun gets suspended from the police and since, Gautham helped Garuda he too is included in the blacklist as a criminal.

Garuda gets saved by Gautham, with the help of a doctor.

"Gautham. Why did you save him from the attack?" asked Arun.

"You would come to knew when he opens his eyes" said Gautham.

"Atleast tell what happened in that place, when you got kidnapped" said Arun.

"I will tell that" said Garuda.

Seeing him, Arun becomes furious and berates him for killing four innocents. He tells that, "If he have a family, he might have known the value of life."

Angered by hearing this, Garuda slaps him and tells the events that happened in his life. Now, he wanted to kill a last person named Rajiv. The trio assures to help him. They are taken by Garuda to his house.

Meanwhile, Arjun, being put under house arrest meets Inspector Rajesh. There Rajesh asks him, "How could he be able to solve several case?" to which, he replies, "It's all intelligence. If you could use one percent in that, you may have developed."

After some comical talks, Arjun asks him, "Why you were all happy when I got suspended?" 

"Not only me sir. Several other officers felt happier when you got suspended" said Rajesh.

"Hmm" said Arjun.

"Police officers have same agenda in their career. To do a duty with perfection. For that, he loses his family, his mental stability and everything. He goes into a lots of mental stress. His life itself goes into hell, sir. He have to face corrupt people and several others, in his journey of getting justice. But, that officer never thinks about the people, who are all affected because of his one action against criminals" said Rajesh.

When he told this, Arjun remembers the hunter story, told by Garuda and henceforth, asks to Rajesh, "Sir. Before five years, was there any other police officers, been popularized in Bangalore"

"Yes sir" said Rajesh.

"Who is he? What is his name?" asked Arjun.

"Gowshik sir" said Rajesh.

"Which Gowshik?" asked Arjun.

"DSP Gowshik Vignesh sir. Former ASP of Anti-terrorism squad. He was serving as the ASP of Mumbai and was widely respected by the public sir. Officially, 15 encounters and unofficially, 25 encounters. He is an addict to the ideologies of crime free methods sir. After he got transferred to Bangalore in 3 months, he have made several baddies to run away. He got the name of top cop in the city sir" said Rajesh.

"Now where is he? asked Arjun.

"I don't know sir" said Rajesh.

"When did you meet him atlast?" asked Arjun

"Atlast, I met him in his final encounter mission. After that, he never came back till now sir" said Rajesh.

Arjun realizes that, Gowshik was his role-model and indeed, he became a police officer, seeing him as his role model.

Now, Gautham too learns Garuda as Gowshik Vignesh and confronts him.

He asks him the reason to follow him and Ishika, without any reasons and in further, berates him for linking his life to his murders and attacking Ishika.

In further, Gautham asks him, "I didn't expect this from you, sir. I have heard about your encounter missions. I and my brother took you as our role model for our ambition. How could you be like this? In addition, you blackmailed me to save you." 

"What did you tell? Role-model ah! Yes. I was a role model to all. But, see how this role-model looks at present!" Said Gowshik and he removes his glass.

Gowshik is blind.

"Everyone knows me as a ruthless encounter specialist only. Last encounter only, changed my whole life. After a few days, I met my only younger sister, Janani in her hostel. We came to our house for having a break. There only, Janani's friend Ria met her and took her to a house to introduce her with her rich friends. Before that, she mixed sedation to me. Those guys, moved by her beauty  brutally raped her to death. And, when I tried to rescue my sister, she and her friends blinded me with a hit. The entire place was set into fire. But, I escaped from the place somehow. After this, I learned human echolocation in London and returned to Bangalore to avenge my sister's death. I learned Garuda literature in a library to punish them. However, at that time, I saw your brother. In addition, I noticed his suspicious activities of killing four rich guys in disguise of Garuda. Hence, I used it as my identity. My motive is not to frame you. But to frame that last guy, Rajiv as Garuda. For that, I considered you as best. Because you are an Indian Army officer. Nothing will happen to Ishika. Trust me" Said Gowshik.

"Ok. Why did my brother killed those innocent four guys?" asked Gautham.

"You can ask this directly to your brother" said Gowshik.

Gautham confronts his brother regarding this while, Gowshik hears through the call.

Having been trapped and left with no way, Arjun tells the incidents happened few years ago.

Arjun got married to Nisha, his long love interest. Both lead a happy life and she got pregnant with his child. At that time, Nisha took care of Gautham as her own brother. One day  both of them gone for a marriage function.

At that time, four drunken boys(one being a doctor) accidents the car and at that time, Nisha becomes fainted. While, Arjun layed helpless. They attacked him brutally and in addition, killed Nisha by hitting her head.

After Arjun survived the accident, he hears off Nisha's death(due to blood loss) and in addition, hears that his child was saved, however.

Arjun tells to the police that, it's an accident(due to the lack of evidence). 

Anjali hears about her father's past while, Gautham takes her inside with his mother's help.

"Traffick signal cameras were not there. No evidences were found. Then, where we been threw by winds? I know how clever those guys are. We can't do anything against them. For the sake of my daughter, I created a character called Garuda" said Arjun.

Arjun took his first victim to a abandoned Buffalo farmhouse, where he tells him that, "More than a guy who made the accident, the one who stood besides and watched also have connections with those murders" when he pleads him for mercy. 

That guy is killed by the buffalos. Later on, he killed other two by same method and later on shot the last guy to death, framing him as Garuda.

Upon hearing this, Gowshik tells him, "If you dreamed to become a police officer by taking one as a role model, this is the final result, Arjun. But, you punished them quickly. Now, I have to punish them right."

"Please hear my words, Gowshik sir. It's not the right way to kill them" said Arjun.

"I knew what you are going to say in further. You want Rajiv to be unharmed, concerned about my life. No chance Arjun" said Gowshik.

Meanwhile, Ishika returns to home and Gautham reconciles with her. He further apologizes her for his bad behaviour. They reconciles.

Later on, Gautham leaves him and meets Gowshik. They hatches a plan and kidnaps Rajiv.

As a final victim in the attack, Gautham threatens Rajiv's family to give 45 lakhs. This time, DCP Narendra have put a tight police security forces in Bangalore and further, seeing this, Rajiv is shifted to Airport underconstruction camp.

Garuda(Gowshik) is asked to be shot whenever being seen. Now, Rajiv pleads for mercy. Gowshik asks him to wear a mask and take the cash bag of 45 lakhs to come and give to him.

Gautham is shocked to hear about it.

When Rajiv stepped out with masks from Airport underconstruction camp, shooters shoots him brutally to death(thinking him to be Garuda). At the same time, Gautham and Gowshik places the bug, jammer, GPS signal tracker and cash bags in the cars of Rajiv.

Gowshik gets tied up by Gautham(as instructed by him). Seeing him, Narendra's team rescues him.

Gowshik, Gautham and Arjun meets each other finally. 

Arjun asks Gowshik to rejoin the police department, to which he refuses.

He tells him that, "He is going for Bangkok in order to forget about his past police life" and asks him to be sincere and honest. They bids a farewell and exits.

Gautham returns to Indian Army after leaving Ishika in his house. While, Anjali lays in Arjun's arms after hearing her mother's final words(before the accident).

While going to the army office, Gautham sees a story of Ishika, which is titled as "Those Binking sceonds" and in that, he sees a quote stating, "In this world, through every movements and incidents, there is a hidden love story for all."
