The Terror that is Gorak

LOCATION: Earth, 2,016 years ago.

TIME: about 3,000 BC.

Occurring during the Early Dynastic periods, before the ancient empires of Egypt and Akkadia were formed in the East and West Worlds, this is a story of Gorak's actions that landed him in The Keeper's Hold.

...

.....

It is a beautiful day in the Ancient Kingdom of Bakkar in the West World; one of the greatest earthling civilisations existent at the time, and in fact, the second greatest in the West World.

The sun is shining high up in the sky. The skies are a clear, sparkling sky blue.

Farmers in the field, farming.

Thousands of soldiers on horseback, training in the garrison.

Citizens of the kingdom going about their normal business... chattering in the towns square and in the crowded trade port by the sea, south of the kingdom.

It is a typical day in the life of a citizen of the kingdom of Bakkar, until...

Suddenly,

*Rumble... Rumble*

The sounds of rumbling thunder come through as the clear skies instantly darken.

The farmers in the field, the training soldiers and the rest of the citizens of the peaceful kingdom of Bakkar, stop whatever they are doing for the moment to look into the sky to see dark clouds quickly materialise.

With the growing intensity of the cloudy darkness, the brilliance of the sun is dimmed until the sun virtually goes dark.

The change is just too sudden.

*FLASH! RUMBLE... FLASH!*

Wild flashes of red lightning and thunder travel the vast length of the now thick, dark skies .

The red lightning flashes across a section of the skies right above the kingdom of Bakkar, but it is so apparent that it can be seen from all around West World.

....

Shocked stiff by the insane crackling sounds of the thunder, and the fearsome and never before seen red lightning, humans all over West World, and even as far as certain border kingdoms in the North, South and East Worlds are forced to give their undivided attention to the unnatural phenomenon going on in the clouds above;

their expressions laced with wonder, awe and curiosity.

What was going on??

Just as everyone is trying to figure out what is happening,...

*K-CRRAAACKK! BOOM!!*

A thunderous flash of red lightning breaks through the earth's ozone layers in one gut wrenching strike that comes all the way down from the clouds to hit the ground, creating a visible and terrible crack in the sky, and leaving a massive crater in the ground as it eats its way into the earth.

The sound is deafening, the sight is terrifying.

*VWOOP!*

The crater just created bursts into wild flames!

And instantly, several other flashes of red lightning follow immediately after the first, coming through the wide crack in the sky, and flying in every direction to burn up everything in sight.

Screaming and shouting rent the air as people run for their lives.

*Neiiiiggghh!!... Hrff!*

Terriffied, horses throw off their riders, galloping away.

Farm animals scatter and citizens justle amongst one another in the crowded trade ports to get away, causing a stampede...

*FLASH! FLASH-FLASH! FLASH!!*

*BOOM! BOOM!! RUMBLE...

K-KCRRRACKK!... BOO-BOOM!

BOOM!! BOOM!!*

Red lightning rains down upon the poor, unsuspecting kingdom of Bakkar.

...

Humans from a great distance off, stare on, shrieking in fear...

'So much lightning!'

"And even worse, there is a crack in the skies!'

'Is the world coming to an end?'

...

Delara, Queen of Angyura, the greatest Kingdom in West World at the time, is one of the stunned spectators.

Staring from afar off, she watches from her balcony, high up in one of the Angyuran palace towers, as a flood of sparking red light spills in through the crack in the skies right above the great Kingdom of Bakkar!

____

*BZzzT! BZzzT!*

*FLASH! FLASH-FLASH!!*

Within the flood of red light, a portal suddenly opens up, and out comes a massive being in the shape of a man, sparking of thunderous red lightning and floating high up in the air.

He is undeniably the source of the red lightning, as the bolts emanate directly from all around him to rain down upon the earth below.

He looks like a god. An angry god; in that case, a gruesome devil.

His name... Gorak.

....

Looking on at the pandemonium beneath him, Gorak smirks, pleased.

Without a word, he slowly raises his right hand in the air, sharply bringing it down to point ahead of him signalling... "Charge!"

Instantly, dark warriors, viscious beasts and fierce shadows come out the portal in a horde, hurling spears and visciously attacking every living creature in sight at their leader's command!

Bloodthirsty and pure evil, they pounce, viciously tearing apart the many citizens of Bakkar.

Now overcome with fear, even the 'brave', training, Bakkarian soldiers that were stunned stiff or thrown to the floor by their horses, flee in terror, overwhelmed by the monstrous out-worldly army.

They don't stand a chance against this devilish invasion of monstrosities. The best option for them is to escape.

Live to fight another day!

But can they escape?

The answer is no. None escapes.

_____

It is utter devastation as wild fires emanating from Gorak's red lightning strikes break out everywhere, gutting the entire kingdom of Bakkar until it is completely burnt to the ground.

Its citizens brutally murdered, maimed, bruised, and all survivors, captured and locked up in cages like mere animals to be tortured,...

...all that is left of the once great kingdom of Bakkar, are the echoes of death and destruction.

*PAUSE!*

Chalding pauses the footage of Gorak attacking the kingdom of Bakkar that has been playing on a screen with his remote controller.

LOCATION: The Hold.

OCCASION: Chalding's workshop / rebriefing / training session for guards in the Hold.

Chalding: "This!..."

*points at the gruesome scene on the paused screen with a teachers pointing stick*

(A scene of Gorak's smirking face as he watches a monster pounce upon and tear apart a human being limb from limb)

"...is why we can never let Gorak escape."

The room full of guards carefully takes notes.

Chalding: *continues* "This attrocious invasion upon the weak, mortal, powerless inhabitants of this little planet..."

*sigh*

(to Gorak) "...How could you, Gorak?"

The entire room full of 'studious' guards turns to stare at Gorak, who for some reason, is also at the workshop, seated at the very back of the room.

Gorak: *suddenly hit with a barrage of dissapointed, judgemental looks*

"What? I was young!"

.....

Presenter: Gosh, that is so brutal. *shivers*

That was a rare footage of some of our gods reacting to Gorak attacking the kingdom of Bakkar!
