Even though Alta was a little peeved by the system not giving her the silence she needs to reflect on her situation, her interest had undoubtedly peeked.

To Alta's knowledge fae referred to fairies, those little cute and magical creatures that always appeared in fairy tales.

What she is now wouldn't be considered 'cute' by any definition of the word. Although she wouldn't consider herself ugly, on second thought even with the blood on her face she couldn't help admiring her delicate and beautiful features.

As her mind steered off track she was suddenly brought back to her senses by none other than the system.

She had let her thoughts go off track. Feeling an extreme interest and fear with her new race, she decided to look at the status menu.

'Wait, how do I open the status menu?' Novels and comics about transmigration may have been something familiar to her but she did not want to end up like some of the people in those novels and comics who embarrassingly yell status only to be told that it wasn't necessary.

Alta felt a bit apprehensive about yelling something so random. But if it's the system, why would it tell a lie.

Nothing happened. Silence followed and as seconds went by Alta could hear the faint chuckles of a certain someone who she thought was only a something.

"Are you laughing at me?!" Alta was angry at the system for doing something so ridiculous but she was also angry at herself for falling for such a bald-faced lie.

At this point, her face could frighten the sun by how hot it is. Embarrassment felt like an understatement for how she truly feels.

'I thought a system isn't supposed to have emotions. Why the hell would you pull such an unfunny prank?' As the system's laughter died down, it decided to answer her question.

[You're just mad I got you if it were anybody else I bet you would laugh too.] Alta was baffled by the system. Although its voice was still cold and mechanical, it's showing unexpected emotion through its words and actions.

'Why are you so... human-like. I don't know how to describe it but I'm pretty sure a system isn't supposed to act like this.'

[How would you know how a system is supposed to act? Have you ever had one before me? Are you cheating on me?!] The sudden outburst made Alta sputter while trying to hold in her laughter.

"Haha" She couldn't help but let out her once restrained laughter. The randomness of the last question was incredibly hilarious to her.

[I act this way because I was automatically calibrated to your liking. I doubt that if given the option to choose someone to spend the rest of your life with, you would choose an emotionless system that only knows how to take orders and not a joke.]

What System-sama said was very true. If Alta was given the option, she would not have chosen some boring system even if it granted her immortality because who would want to spend the rest of their life with someone who you can't even have a proper conversation with.

[In my opinion, you should be a little more... original when picking a name for me.] System-sama's comment hurt Alta.

'You're a system! You shouldn't even have opinions in the first place!' Alta was highly offended and wanted to retaliate against the system but knew that her fury could only be placed elsewhere so she punched the ground in annoyance.

The punch left a sizable impact on the ground beneath Alta. Before she could be surprised by her seemingly light punch, System-sama had a few words of his own.

[That's racist!]

'Okay, Sir Exposition.' Although Alta was upset she could admit that her previous name wasn't that original so she came up with a new one.

'Status.' Her second attempt worked and a blue screen appeared in front of her. 'Thank you for finally being helpful Sir Exposition.'

'Dang, that's rough.' Experiencing the effects of the curse firsthand made Alta understand why most dark faes would succumb to it. If not for her system, she would have ended up just like those other faes. After returning to the status menu, Alta taps on her blessing.

Seeing this, Alta was curious about how much time the deer creature gave her.

[You have approximately 2 hours until death.]

'Wait...'

"WHAT?!" She was extremely shocked by how little time she had left. 'You're telling me that deer thing only gave me 2 hours?! What the fuck!' After thoroughly cursing the deer creature and its ancestors, Alta began running in the direction the other animals fled. 'If I die because of that pathetic ass deer, I'm gonna haunt its children from the afterlife!'
