Chapter: 2

Act 2: The Real World

No smell is worse than the streets of Los Angeles. It smells like a corpse got tossed in the sewers and someone farted on it.

Most people don't mind the smell or they get used to it because it doesn't bother them as much as me. I was born with a superb nose. I smell everything and it sucks, sure it might sound cool and all but it's not.

As I walked down the street, I saw a few food trucks. I started drooling and ran towards them, my nose was going crazy from all the delicious smells, pizza off to my right, burgers to my left, and so many other great-tasting foods.

I stopped and try to focus on one scent that sticks out to me.

*sniff sniff

A soft aroma of beans and milk went through my nose. mmm, it smelt so good. I followed my nose right to where it was coming from. It wasn't a truck though nor a store; it was a little wood table with a sign drawn with a marker with a girl standing behind it.

I blushed at the sight of her. Red flowing hair that was in a ponytail that popped out of the back of her hat, green gentle eyes with blue-rimmed glasses around them, and a perfect hourglass body.

I was hesitant to walk up to her, even though I wanted coffee. I had never talked to a girl before in actual life. I backed away, but before I could take another step, she made eye contact with me. My entire face turned red. I'm pretty sure there was steam blowing out of my ears.

"um..."

"Hello sir, would you like a cup of coffee," she said smiling.

Her voice was soft, calm, and sweet. Like a feather.

Her smile was perfect. No girl has ever smiled at me either. Usually, they just scowl and look away.

"S-sure I guess I'll have one," I responded.

"Sir, you 're drooling."

I covered my mouth as fast as I could and turned away from her.

"I'm s-sorry..."

"No, no, no it's fine, please don't worry about it. I just didn't want you to be embarrassed in front of these people." She said, waving her hands.

I mumbled to myself "You made it embarrassing, if you didn't point it out I would have been fine." luckily she didn't hear me, or else I probably would have offended her.

I turned around, whipping the spit off my face.

"What kind of coffee would you like, sir?"

"um I'll just take an Iced Mocha but why do you call me sir? I look younger than you, wait! How old are you anyways, I'm 21?"

She handed me the coffee without responding. I got this creepy vibe coming from her.

"Go ahead, take a sip its free refunds if it doesn't taste good," she said.

I took a sip.

*Slurp

"Wow not bad, not bad at al-"

"SMACK!" she had struck me across the face, which sent me stumbling backward.

"Ouch what was that for?!" I shouted at her. People turned and stared at us.

"Are you saying I look old?"

"Oh $#@%, what have I done?" I thought to myself. I panicked.

"That sounded better in my head. I'm so sorry!"

"THWAP!" She kicked me in the gut, which sent me airborne.

"Bleh!" Vomit spewed out of my mouth.

"I'm only 18!" she shouted

I landed on the ground with a "thump!" My body ached, and I got the wind knocked out of me. I looked like a squashed bug on the sidewalk.

"looks like you spilled your coffee. I'll make you a new one for free, but don't expect it to be as sweet as the last one."

She glared at me as I laid on the ground. Her voice changed tones to a sharp, killer, and bitter voice. Like a knife.

Elton was exhausted and wanted to lie down. He still had an hour and a half left in the actual world. He figured he could just go into the game right now and finish some other quest before heading to the dungeon, but he was too exhausted to play right now.

He thought for a bit about what just happened and realized that the girl had the exact same body type as the other girl in the game.

"Could it be the same girl?" He thought. However, the girl in the game could have just changed her body type while making her character. Like how Elton was going to make his character all muscular but then just made it look like himself.

Skinny, short, and wimpy.

It was 6:25 pm in the game, so Elton shot up off the couch and put on the headset. He needed to find out if his suspicion was right about the two girls.

Elton flipped the switch on the side of the headset with "bzzt" as the headset booted up.

[Welcome Elton. Loading Quest Log.]

"Aerial skip actions and play," Elton said in a rush.

[Ok.]

[Booting up map.]

Elton Evaporated and entered the world of Anoa. He dashed out of his cottage and into town.

"Aerial, show coordinates for dungeon"

[Opening coordinates for dungeon]

Dding!

The coordinate screen popped up in front of Elton.

"Ok, all I have to do is follow these coordinates and I'll be there"

Elton ran through town and entered Frog Stool Forest.

[Turn right.]

Elton dashed around a tree, leaves rustled and sticks snapped while he ran. It was a good thing Elves were fast and knew how to get around a forest, otherwise, Elton would struggle to get through this forest.

[Go straight and you will be there]

Elton ran as fast as he could, leaping and skipping over logs and around trees. He could see the teal light shining through the trees.

"Almost there..." He said

"If I don't get there on time, the dungeon will close," Elton said.

Elton pulled up the time it was 6:29 pm.

"Damn it, I'm not gonna make it!"

"Reeeeeeeee!!!" a boar jumped out in front of Elton and ran into him, slamming Elton right into a tree.

"Crap, I don't have time for this nor the utilities"

Elton got up and raised his fist, making a boxing stance.

"Fine You want a fight, you're getting one," Elton said furiously. As Elton was getting ready to fight the boar barehanded, he heard a rustle in the trees. Then with a "Shing!" The wind blew 10 times harder and the boar's head slid off of its body.

"like slicing ham." a familiar female voice said.

The boar evaporated into the air and I looked over at where the voice was coming from. It was the lady that was in the town before.

"It looked like you needed some help," the girl said, while turning around and grinning at me. I saw her true face for the first time, well in-game face.

She had Beautiful Violet eyes that shimmered in the darkness under her hood, her skin was gray, and she had long silver hair flowing down from under her hood.

"Well, c'mon, we gotta go catch the dungeon before it disappears. Also, take this you're going to need it." She tossed me a common Switch Dagger and a health potion. I wondered why the health potion, but then she gestured me to look up.

Level 1 Elf Class: Elton Sword-blight

Hp: (15/50)

"You were really about to fight the boar bare-handed and at 15 health? That would be suicide for you."

I shrugged at her and looked down at my weapon.

[Weapon obtained]

[Common Switch Dagger]

I was happy, my first weapon!

We ran towards the dungeon before it could close.

"You ready?" She asked,

I nodded, and we headed into the light as the dungeon portal closed behind us.

Fin.
