Chapter: 3

Act 3: Dungeon

[Entering Dungeon]

[Would you like to turn back?]

(Yes) or (No)

Elton and the girl both picked no and entered the dungeon. The dungeon was lit with blue torches and cobwebs hung from wall to wall.

Elton walked with the girl for a ways then realized he still didn't know her name, he must have been too distracted to even look at her tag.

Elton looked up at her tag.

Level 21 Elf Class: Veronica Straif

Hp: (350/350)

Elton frowned. She wasn't actually Level.10 like in the city; she was actually a much higher level, in fact.

"So, Veronica, what's our game plan for surviving this dungeon?"

"We don't have one," Veronica replied

"What?!"

"I said we don't have one. Were just gonna kick some monster butt, loot this place, and then leave."

"That sounds like a plan to me."

"I guess it does, huh?"

They walked deeper into the dungeon, and there were still no signs of any monsters. It was weird usually dungeons are crawling with monsters and booby traps but that didn't seem to be the case in this dungeon. Not even Veronica could sense any living creatures.

"The hell is going on?!" Veronica shouted.

"So much for kicking monster butt," Elton added on.

They walked even deeper into the dungeon. Veronica was eager to find at least one monster lingering around. Elton felt sort of relieved that there were no monsters around. It was scary enough walking around in the dark, damp, and scary dungeon.

"This sucks. Where are all the monsters?!" Veronica yelped.

"Don't ask me I do-" the sound of a creek cut Elton off. He looked down to see what it was coming from. He had stepped on a booby trap.

Veronica looked over at him and leaped into the air, filled with joy.

"Finally, a booby trap! Yipee hahaha!"

Elton shot a glare towards Veronica.

"This isn't a laughing matter doesn't something bad happen when you step on a booby trap?!" Elton shouted.

"Yeah, you're probably going to want to move out of the way."

As Elton took his foot off of the tile, an arrow flew past his face. Elton jumped out of the way and hid behind Veronica, clenching her cloak with his hands.

"I want to go home now..." Elton trembled.

"It's just an arrow it probably would have just done 10 damage, not kill you," Veronica replied.

"I don't care, it still would have hurt" Elton had tears running down his face.

"You're the one that even wanted to do this, so man up and let's get going!"

Veronica was right, Elton had to man up if he wanted to beat this dungeon. Hell, he had to man up to become the best player. Veronica's words inspired Elton.

Elton sprang up and completely switched gears.

"Right, let's get going," Elton said.

"You're a very confusing person, you know that?" Veronica said while grinning

"I know, it's just that your words inspired me that I'm going to need to be brave if I want a shot at becoming the best player."

"Pfft..."

"What?" Elton asked her.

"BAHAHAHA!!!!!" she laughed hysterically. Elton was confused at why she was laughing, but then realized he just told her he wanted to become the best player.

"Oh crap, that must have sounded so stupid to her. It even sounds stupid to me." Elton thought.

"You, best player?! BAHAHAHA!!" She kept on laughing. Elton frowned, then sighed.

"Funny joke, but this is not the time to be making jokes, so let's keep moving." she calmed down.

"It wasn't a joke though..." He said

She ignored his response and started walking forward.

"we're going to have to be a lot more careful now that we know there are traps around," Veronica said. Elton nodded and continued to walk forward with her.

***

Veronica and I walked for a while, but there were no other booby traps. The dungeon gradually became darker the deeper we went in. I trailed behind Veronica, making sure if something popped out she would be the first one to be attacked, but then again, if a monster came from behind... I don't want to think about that right now.

"This has to be the most boring dungeon ever!" Veronica shouted. She stomped rapidly.

"I think it's quite peaceful except for the feeling of a monster breathing on my neck."

"Fool, dungeons aren't supposed to be peaceful, there supposed to be filled to the brim with monsters and loot and all we are doing is walking straight there are no turns we are just walking down a flight of gradual stairs that will probably never end!"

As Veronica was scolding me about dungeons and all that, I saw a tiny light shimmering in the darkness far down the hall. I stood on my toes to get a better look at it over Veronica's shoulder. She was confused about what I was doing. Veronica looked behind her, then looked at me again.

"What are you doing?" Veronica asked. I stuck my index my finger out.

"There is a little light shining down there," I said without taking my eyes off it. It almost looked like it was gradually getting bigger, closer. I blinked and rubbed my eyes, trying to see if it was just in my head. But I don't think it was, and neither for Veronica. The shimmering light grew bigger, it was a blue light that seemed to be blinking.

"What is that?" we both asked, synchronized. The dungeon rumbled as the light grew closer. I noticed it wasn't blinking there were pieces of gravel spinning around it in the air.

"This isn't some light..." Veronica said.

"What is it then?"

"..." Veronica squinted harder.

"That's a dungeon talus!" Veronica shrieked.

"is that some type of monster?" I asked.

"Yes, a very strong monster."

My eyes widened. I turned away and started running as fast as I could. There was no way I was going to fight that thing.

Shing!

Veronica took out two green glowing daggers from the back of her waist.

"Alright, finally something to fight!"
