Chapter: 5

Act 4: Plugin

*In the eyes of Veronica

I was walking around the market for a bit. I wanted to buy something powerful and mysterious, like a poison potion or something along the lines of that. So naturally, I went into the potion shop to see what they had.

"Welcome to Potion Explosion," The old Dwarf cackled.

"Hey, I am looking for a poison potion or anything like that. Do you have any?" I asked her. The old dwarf looked up at me.

"Why do you need a poison potion, hmm? Are you trying to poison someone?" She asked.

"What?! No, I just need one for mobs," I told the lady.

She cackled, "Kishihihihi! I'm just kidding, we have some in the back."

"Why are they in the back?" I asked.

"So no one can steal them, they're dangerous you know." She said.

"I know"

"Daniel! Can you escort this young elf lady to the back? She needs a poison potion." The old dwarf called out.

"Jeez, you don't need to let the entire town know I'm an elf. You dwarfs are really annoying, you know that?"

"Number one, what's wrong with being an elf, hmm?" She said while holding her index finger up.

"It's the hardest class, it's embarrassing, and it's uncommon," I told her.

"Come to think of it, I just saw an elf walk by a minute ago... Where did he go?" She said while looking around.

"Crazy old dwarf, you must be seeing things," I said, grinning.

"Oh yeah, number two, don't assume I'm a dwarf just because I'm short and stubby, or else I might have to poison you kishihi!... By the way, where is Daniel anyway? DANIEL!!!"

"Wait, she's not a dwar- Oh..." I thought to myself.

"Yes mother, I'm coming, I'm coming. I was in the washroom." a youthful male voice called out from the back.

The Japanese blinds lifted behind the lady. A young human boy walked outside.

I looked up at his tag.

Level 5 Human Class: Daniel Barnhart

Hp: (110/110)

Daniel had medium-length wavy hair with shorter sides. He had green eyes with freckles scattered along his face and a firm jawline. His body was slightly more muscular than an average male. His shirt was a common folk shirt and the same with his trousers.

I blushed.

"So is she the one?" Daniel asked the old lady.

"Yes, yes, she is..." the old lady said, glaring at me.

"Well, follow me," he insisted.

"O-ok" I stuttered while twirling my hair.

I walked into the store with him. I felt a spine-chilling stare coming from behind me, but when I looked back, no one was looking at me. It was probably just the old hag.

It was a very dark store but barely was lit with some purple flame candles and normal candles. The store smelt funky, I can't explain the smell, but it smelt like perfume and farts combined. It didn't necessarily smell bad, though, just strange.

"So do you live around here?" Daniel asked.

"No, I actually live on the eastern side of Anoa," I said.

"What makes you come over to the northern side of Anoa?"

"There was a dungeon I did with a group of people right outside of town today."

"I see..." He went quiet for the rest of the walk to the back.

He moved some purple curtains with gold lining, which revealed a door with many locks and levers.

"Are all those locks really necessary just for some poison potions?"

"Oh, I'm not taking you to the poison potions. If you want poison potions, they're right over there," he said while pointing at the refrigerator with potions in it.

"Well then, where does this door lead to?" I asked.

He smirked. "I'm glad you asked. You see, I overheard you and mother talking-"

"From the bathroom," I cut him off, disgusted at the fact.

"No, I was actually re-stalking the shelves."

"I heard you wanted a poison potion but I could hear in the tone of your voice that you were itching for mother to say she has something better." He said.

"Not really. Can I just have a poison potion?" I asked.

"Wait! Before you make any assumptions, please take a careful look at what I offer." He said eagerly.

"Fine..."

Daniel took off the keyring that was latched onto his belt. With a few twirls of the keyring, he put each key in each hole appropriately. He looked like he knew what he was doing, not messing up with the wrong key or struggling to look for a certain key. It just came easily to him. He pulled a few of the levers then with an "Fwsh!" the door unlatched and fog came from the other side of the door.

Daniel went inside while waving at me to come in. His smile was comforting and trusting, so I followed him in.

"Aerial, turn on the candles," Daniel said as the candles came on. "Welcome to Daniels Plugins!" He raised his hands while spinning. I could tell I was his first customer just by how he acted. He must have scared everybody off with the whole "Come to the back I got something mysterious back there" act.

"Welcome to my shop," He said.

"Wow, so much for a shop. It's just a closet with some microchips displayed on the shelves." I said sarcastically.

Daniel frowned.

"Don't underestimate these microchips," He said.

"They hold the power of anything you can imagine"

"So, being the best player?" I asked him, smirking.

"Well, not that but these can help you become the best player."

Now I frowned. "What exactly do they do then?"

"Well, I got them from this guy off the black market. He was selling them dirt cheap, so I bought a few. But it turned out he scammed me and they didn't even work. But thankfully, I know my way around electronics so I did some readjusting and they should work now."

"Ok, what do they do, though? That's what I asked, not where they came from."

"Oh sorry, they are hacked chips you put into your headset and they grant you all these unique abilities that you wouldn't be able to do in the normal game."

I grinned. "Now this is interesting," I said. "How much for a couple?" I asked him.

"30,000 coin for one but since you are my first customer, I will make it 'buy one get one free deal'" Daniel said.

It sure was expensive and risky. What if they don't work and he just rips me off? But it was worth it. All the power you could ever need in the game.

"Alright I'll take this one, and that one!" I said.

Daniel put them into a case and said, "Thank you for shopping at Daniels Plugins, make sure to keep this secret and have a good rest of your day," while handing me the case.

I walked out of the store while putting the case into my sack.

"Did you not buy anything?" The old lady asked.

"No, they were too expensive," I responded.

"Oh, ok," the lady said.

I walked through the town and into an alley.

I took the case out from my sack and said, "Alright time to try you, bad boys, out."

"Aerial show headset"

[Headset model 2x-180]

A blue 3D hologram of my headset appeared in front of me.

I had the newest model of headsets. It had color-enhanced graphics, an fps boost, and motion blur. I even had it custom-made with kitty ears tee hee. I pulled out both of the chips and slid them into the slots on the side of my headset.

A red balloon popped up in front of me with a surprise.

ERNT!

[WARNING! Are you sure you want to continue with this action, it may cause your game to lag or even crash!]

(No) or (Yes)

I tapped yes with no second thoughts or regrets.

[Inserting data]

Bding!

Two green menus appeared in front of me with a lot of information.

"Wow! that is a lot of information and hacks!"

[List of Developer hacks]

Flight: (Off)

Invisibility: (Off)

Wall Walk: (Off)

Enhanced Battle Stats: (Off)

Ability Use In Towns/Cities: (Off)

...

The list went on.

I looked at the other menu.

[List of Developer Items]

Max Heal Potion: (0/???)

Max Mana Potion: (0/???)

Max Stamina Potion: (0/???)

...

The list went on.

This was too much for me to handle, too much power. I turned on the setting "Ability Use In Towns/Cities" and closed the tabs.

"Alright, let's see if you work."

I walked out of the alley and used incognito. I had to test if this was working so I jumped out in front of somebody and hollered. They walked right past me.

"It worked!" I yelped and leaped into the air. I went around town having fun and trying out all my abilities until somebody came up behind me.

It was another elf class player. He was only level one, though. He had dirty clothes; they were more like rags draped over his body, rather than clothes. He had silver hair and yellow eyes. He was skinny and short, like a toothpick, sort of. I hadn't seen another elf player for a long time.

Fin.
