CHAPTER 5: THE LAST THREE DOORS

5-1

Everyone except Troy is gathered in the living room of the estate. It is about 6:31 PM in the clock or around 4:31 in this world. Everyone is in thought on the matter of the basement door that might not show up.

"If that is true then Venus will be forever stuck in that basement door…" Sheila ponder as her gazed down casted,

"I just can't align why James and Daryl somehow escaped even when the basement door disappeared. Why can't Venus and Claire do it too? Why can't they just open the door knob too?" Gregory whine,

"Let's just put the facts straight first. 1st Daryl opened the door on the upper left house, didn't enter but the door didn't disappear once you closed it, right Daryl?" Jane placed all the facts,

"Ahh. Yes, that's how it happened. I think." I replied,

"You think?" Jane questioned,

"Well. I already turned around after I peeked at the door. I don't know if it disappeared on the spot." I explained,

"Oh. Okay… 2nd Daryl, James, Sheila and Jasmine found the basement door of this estate, entered it, got the paper and exited it, right?" Jane added,

"Yes. That's how it happened." Jasmine confirmed,

"It didn't close the door before you?" Jane asked,

"No. The door remained opened until we exited; Sheila was the first to exit as she ran then James held the door opened until I got out. Once, James closed the door, the door just disappeared right then and there." Jasmine elaborated,

"Correction, the door just somehow slammed itself, I didn't pulled it or anything. I was even surprised." James added,

"Is that how it happened?" Sheila questioned,

"Ahh. Yeah. I even pulled my hand in shock." James elaborated,

"So it is not the number of people or something. Now, 3rd Gregory, Troy, Venus and Claire entered the left house from this estate, almost drowned, got the paper and exited. Was there no path back to the door after you entered?" Jane asked,

"No. After I stepped on the last stair, my sight went blank and just stood place with everyone else, the path to the door was nowhere where we stood." Gregory replied,

"How did the door closed?" Jane asked,

"After I got out, the door just slammed itself and disappeared." Gregory said,

"Lastly, the 4th Sheila, Daryl and James entered the door. Lost in a maze, got the paper then got out. How did the door disappear?" Jane looked at Sheila,

"It disappeared after I exited the door." Sheila replied,

"But Daryl and James still got out? How?" Jane looked at me,

"I just opened the door…" I replied not understanding how,

"Did it just slam behind you?" She added,

"I don't know. I was too tired to even notice my surroundings that time. James was too heavy and I am too weak." I added.

"Hmm…" Jane deep in thought,

Steph also deep in thought when she opened her mouth and talk her thoughts in the open,

"Jasmine, Daryl, Sheila and James. At that time when the basement door in this estate showed up, who carried the paper?" Steph asked in the open.

As everyone listened to Steph, everyone slowly widen their eyes in realization as if a divine being of realization entered their minds.

"It can't be a coincidence, right?" Gregory said as he continued,

"I was the last person who exited and I had the paper." Jasmine said,

"I was carrying the paper, after I exited, it slammed shut. Though, when Sheila exited the door, it also slammed but I remember Daryl handed me the paper which means!" Gregory grasped,

"This means, the reason Daryl and James still got out was because Daryl had the paper that time. If Daryl didn't carry James at that time, James would have also been stuck." Jefferson finished,

"To put it blandly, if I handed Sheila the paper instead of putting it in my pocket. Me and James would have been trapped forever?" I widen my eyes from that thought.

If that did happened, I don't know what I would do… I might even resort to eating James due to starvation… Luckily, that didn't happen.

"So basically speaking, if all of this is true, Venus and Claire can never come out." Nadia concluded,

I felt the chill down my spine thinking that, somehow, I got lucky.

"Shouldn't we tell Troy?" Sheila concerned,

"He wouldn't listen." Jasmine firmly said with angry tone,

"Still, we should at the very least, inform him of this. Whether he believes it or not is up to him. The door he is waiting would be the first to appear, at least then when the door ends up not showing, he would know why." Wesley said as he went ahead exited the room,

"I'll go with you." Sheila accompanied Wesley,

"That's that. It already happened. We can't waste our time sulking, we still have what we have now. Let's not waste that." Jefferson said.

Everyone agreed. It is true; there is nothing we can do anymore. However we try, it is not something we can control because if we do have a level of control, we could have already tried it but the fact that we don't just left us feeling vulnerable.

"Let's all just be prepared for the next door. I think it's your guys turn." Gregory looked at Jane and Jefferson,

"Anything can happen." Jane said in the open.
