Secret of the hidden poetry book

Mark had taken Little Moon to visit her relations who live close by. I was feeling bored and looked around to see if I can find something to do. I remembered she had quite a collection of various books by many classic and modern authors.

Her book collection is pretty impressive. So many various kinds of book titles. I remember she told me her parents were avid readers and they used to collect and read various books. She had been a good reader since she was pretty young.

"Hi Lee."

"How are you doing George?"

"I am doing pretty good. What's new on that side?"

"Everything is going smoothly. I have got two new international brands wanting to collaborate with you."

"May I know the brands?"

"One is fashion and the other is a soft drink brand. But I didn't give a positive attitude for the soft drink one."

"That's good, Lee. Let me know when you get the contract. And how about the practice sessions with the actors for the drama going on?"

"The lead actress is pretty annoying. I don't know if she will be able to grasp the character well."

"Then it's a problem. Why don't you get another person and train as well."

"Ok boss I will do that. But my guess is that she only wants to spread rumors that you two are an item." I laughed when Lee said it.

She has been trying hard to find out where I was and what I was doing. Even speculate things and create headlines that damage her own personality. Somehow the media knows about her and they don't show much interest in her affairs.

While I was talking with Lee, I went on browsing the books. Architecture, literature, graphics, cookbooks and so many types of books. Something caught my eye suddenly. A white cover book with Little Moon's name printed on the book.

"Ok, Lee. Get in touch when you get the contract. Take care."

I was curious about this book, this book was kept kind of hidden among other books. "World around me- Poetry collection" - National Literacy Award winner, was written inside the book. So she had been in a little limelight herself.

I read her poetry, they seem to connect with the inner you - the reader in a mysterious way. All her poems were written about things and the people around her. They were simple but more meaningful and beautifully written.

After I finished reading them, I was so impressed. She seems to have a deep understanding of life, maybe that's why she sometimes doesn't seem to react to some situations. She already knows those are meaningless in real life. I thought I should call Mr.D.

"Hi, George," said Mr.D cheerfully.

"Mr.D, I found something hidden in the bookcase." I think he guessed my worried voice.

"What did you find George?"

"A poetry book, written by Little Moon."

"Hmm.. Don't ask her about the book till she willingly tells you."

"Why? Those poems were written really well. Why didn't she continue?"

"George, the memory associated with the book is more hurtful to her than you know."

I was speechless. What had happened to her. My heart was beating fast.

"She wrote it as her father's last wish. The last happy moment for her father was seeing her getting this award on stage," said Mr.D. "Her father passed away few months after that."

"Then ?" I asked Mr.D.

"She quit writing entirely and focused on other things. Till I asked her to write a script for me a few years later."

"This must have been a hard decision for her"

"Yes, George. She has struggled a lot. But now she has accepted them and forgotten them. If you can hide that book away."

I hide the book that night. But my mind was not at ease, so I checked to see if she was online for a chat.

"Starry.. Are you awake?" As I saw her online.

"Hi... How are you?"

"I am doing fine. So how's your project going on?"

"Most work is almost done by now. You have been MIA these days."

"Oh yes... Had to finish off editing some of my new books."

"Hmm.. "

I thought maybe I should ask about what she thinks of me. What will she say.

"So how're things with that guy?"

"What guy? Do you mean George?" she asked.

"Yeap. How are things with him." She sends a giggling emoji.

"Not bad."

"I think you are hiding something. Tell me will you?"

"He asked me."

"Really?"

"Hmm..."

"So..."

"I just said ok.."

"Silly who says ok when they tell you they like you" I scolded her.

"But how can I tell him, I still need to think a little."

"So you don't like him?"

"No you nitwit, it's not that. How can I say it.."

"You like him..." I completed the sentence while I was feeling happy inside, she has not rejected me.

I didn't know what to say. I was feeling as I was being full of love. A feeling of wanting to be with her at this moment was overwhelming me. A feeling I have never felt before. I went to the window and saw Little Moon, sitting under the porch. She was watching the stars at midnight.

I went near her and sat beside her. She didn't seem to know my presence. Without a sound, I held her hand and got her close to me. Then only I saw her looking at me.

"Do you see stars on my face?"

She smiled.

What are you thinking about?" I asked her stroking hair, putting her head on my shoulder.

"About a new script. But I am still thinking about the characters. I want to write about a lonely rich heir looking out of his mansion window every day to see a girl sitting by the beach. I think it will be a nice..."

I kissed her. "Will you write a poem about me one day?"

She looked at me and nodded approving what I said. By holding her tight only I realized, something Mr.D said. Little Moon was tough and kind of cold to everyone in outer appearance, but in reality, she is very fragile and sensitive, so she needs to be protected. I have to be responsible for her and make her sure I can protect her and be there for her whatever happens.
