A History Lesson

Alex's mother sat him down, synthesizing him some food. She encouraged him to eat, before her shaky voice continued. "Our family, holds a secret, it is as ancient as our bloodline, we call it, Mimic, it gives us the ability to copy someone's power and a lot of bad people have come for it, to use us as weapons, an infinite arsenal, it is our duty and our destiny to protect this power, to keep it from being taken by them". A silence encompassed the room, Alex just sat their. "How? How do I Mimic?", his response unbalanced his mother, "you have to think of the Mana in your hands, how it works and how you'll use it, your nurse was wrong, you can only hold one at a time, and it becomes your Mana until you take a new one".

Alex got up, he went to touch his mother and Mimic her Synthesizer power. "You can't Mimic an ability a Mimic has", her eyes shot down, her son was taking this weirdly well. When she looked up he had gone, she heard his door close.

Alex dug through his drawer, every child was gifted a common crystal at birth, he felt a sharp edge prod his palm. Clasping it he brought it out, its blue-ish purple-ish surface glinted at him.

"Yes". A blinding light filled the room, erasing any trace of shadow. All that was left when the light subsided was a pile of grey dust, he rushed to a mirror. Staring back at him was himself, yet surrounding him was iron armor, perfectly fitted to his body, it was dyed a blacking grey and almost seemed to have black wisps constantly traveling across it. "MOM!", his yell reached down to her, she quickly rushed to his room, throwing the door open. The cup she had been holding fell to the floor, "You remind me of myself, all iron clad and ready to destroy the world", she looked at him, her eyes only expressed care, he was a lovely child.

"I think I look rather dashing, although iron does seem pretty weak", he was inquisitive, I mean Mana Weapons could cut through titanium, iron would be easy. "It is much tougher then it seems Alex, only the strongest of Mana weapons would be able to cut through that bub", her words made sense but it just seemed impossible, he eventually just took it as a proper and adequate answer. "Menu"

"Oh, looks like it does show the Mana of the last person I mimicked", his voice had an aura of disbelief. He had never heard of this, finally he had something that no one else had, he had a secret to rule over the cruel world that's bullied him for years. His mother knew what was running through her little boys head, "You can't tell anyone, if they know you'll live in captivity forever", "yes Mom, I promise I'll keep this a secret".
