Alex practically fell off the cafeteria seat, he glared right at Em, yet Em didn't normally have that snarky smile he wears. His face was more a look of shock, guess he didn't expect that either. A soul pairing is when two Mana's reach out to each other, normally due to an intense emotional connection. "B-But I thought you didn't have a Mana", "Shh shut up if someone hears you- you know what just come with me-", he grabbed Em's hand and dragged him into the bathroom, it was empty as always at lunch. "Look just because we're soul paired or whatever doesn't mean it was romantic, it was probably out of annoyance, now shut up and lets-". Alex's rant was interrupted by Em's lips pressing into his, Alex recoiled and ran out of the bathroom, "What the hell was Em thinking" he muttered to himself.

Alex kept running until he hit the other side of campus, his mind was full of so many thoughts, but he felt most of all cold. He'd felt it as soon as Em's lips left his, it was like the kiss gave him warmth. He remembered the feeling, like a thousand fireworks had gone off in his mind. He started running again until he found Em, he grabbed his wrist and pulled him into a hug, their eyes interlocking before Alex kissed Em.

It'd been a week since the whole soul pairing thing, they say when you soul pair you mind is clouded and decisions flawed, so Alex thought maybe Em was just seeing it as that, maybe it was just that. Em had been keeping it clear of Alex, he managed to make some other friends and sadly they were in Dereck's circle so Alex didn't get to see much of Em. Until one night, he heard a knock at his door, his mother was heavy sleeper so he went down to check. "Menu" Heck no was he opening a door without having a useful Mana.
