James had remembered having his hand ripped from his arm. He thought it weird, he still did, and yet he wondered why Dylan had kept his hand when it would only be excess weight. But still James couldn't seem to bring his from his hand on the drive home. It was storming outside because of Skyler's current tantrum after Dylan got away. Lightning struck in the distance, it wouldn't matter James's new apartment didn't need electricity when he could read by candle light. The next lightning strike was far closer than the last. But James could rest through even the worst of storms.
Gunfire was what filled his dreams, shooting every one of his photographs and every person who was in them. He jolted out of bed in a cold sweat thinking he needed to get out. But the rain still poured down. He shuffled into his new kitchen, it was missing so many of his things he almost wanted to twist is all until it was modern art. But he wouldn't. Not tonight and not ever. He had abused his strengths in the past and it had cost his family's life. Never would another be hurt in his anger. It sounded like hail outside, with large metallic clinks on his new roof.
Then the clinks got bigger and more pronounced. A fist the size of his microwave came through the brick wall. James summoned the kitchen knife set that came with the apartment and had them stab the arm. It pulled out of the wall after the knives punctured its tough flesh, or what James thought was flesh. A hulking human with hands that looked burnt and white flesh everywhere else that scared James stiff. But James didn't get scared of things like this, he tried to break free from its spell but the brute quickly punched James through the wall of his apartment. James was stopped by the building across the street. He then fell onto a car denting the top.
"What the hell?" Muttered James. As the brute jumped out of the building and down onto another car. Then as if on cue a Minotaur raged down the road after a police car, and James finally notice the harpies flying through the sky and the centaurs galloping through the streets shooting people with bows and arrows.
"Dylan!" James yelled. "Why are there monsters in new York!" It was more of a statement, he knew that Dylan would come here eventually, but with monsters was confusing him.
"Sorry, Dylan's not here. But a message can be sent." Said a man who looked like the master of these beasts. He rode on a three headed wolf with fire coming from it's mouth.
"So, what would you like to tell him?" The man said. The wolf coming off of its perch on the building crushing three cars now empty.
"I would like to know how he got monsters." James responded preparing to have the cars crush him and his beast. But it won't work. The materials from the cars were supposed to be crushing the man and his wolf or wolves, whatever it was or they were. A man stepped up onto a car wearing golden armor and a velvet cape with white fur lining. On his head was a crown that radiated power.
"That's not gonna work." Said the man having to yell over the chaos. "And I know when your'e gonna try something like that again." The man clearly wasn't a god, but how or why he was helping Dylan was unclear to James. And right now James needed to focus on stopping the other two. He turned around and jumped at the brute. The distance was easily twenty feet, giving the brute time to prepare for the oncoming attack. The brute braced himself and grabbed James before any attack was landed, the brute then flung James to the beast. James was torn apart too many times to count. Then James heard a crackling noise and the beast was getting warmer and warmer. Finally James was able to crawl out of the smoldering beast's mouth.
Skyler, Garrett, Wyatt, and Catherine stand at the ready for battle, and James could feel his power coming back to him. Skyler thrusts her arms out again, but nothing happened, so the man with the crown must be focusing on her. James took this advantage to create a pillar from the earth under the wolf, launching it into the air along with the rider. Garrett turned into a falcon and flew to the brute with Wyatt and Catherine following on foot. Skyler would focus on the man in the crown, leaving the beasts to James.
