The path to eternity

Dylan walked down the grand isle with rows upon rows of soldiers surrounding him. He smiled at his success. No matter how many gods may escape his grip they would soon be trapped once more.

He was now a few steps away from the wooden podium, this was it, he would be the ruler he had fought hard to be for so long.

"To all who serve in this army I salute you for your ability to take this world in a way no other army could. I am grateful for such a power as all of you." A few murmurs through the crowd, they seemed to be good words.

"But we are yet to finish, we have yet to apprehend many gods, but my estimation for that hunt will be no longer than two months. Two months of hard work and then easy patrols and training to keep in shape." His army was clearly exited by the prospect of killing any resistance. And they loved the aspect of easy jobs. Dylan could feel the world at his feet and he knew he had finally earned it.

Justin could walk for days without knowing where Jacob was taking him. He kept quiet mostly, only talking at night when they set up camp to tell Justin about the types of gods.

"There is one truth in the gods, old and new. They may change factions of chaos and order but they will always be old or new gods. That will never change."

"Alright, well as an ex-chaos god I can tell you that your wrong. The truth is chaos and order, not old or new." Because order and chaos take everyone, not just kids or adults. But everything and everyone in between. This was the unspoken truth Justin knew.

They continued on the next day in hopes of finding a vehicle for its faster travel. They found a broken down car that still had some gasoline tanks in the back but clearly took too much gas.

They continued walking until they found a truck. The truck worked but had no fuel so they went back to the car with fuel and then back to the truck. By nightfall they had the truck ready to go.

"If only we had something like a bus, we could put gas in the back and camp in it at night. Oh man that's the dream." Justin said that night.

"What about when we needed to hide it?" Jacob asked.

"Well, we could not take a tarp and cover the bus."

Well we can settle for a truck until we find a bus." Jacob said sarcastically.

"Wait till I find a bus!" Justin said angrily.

Wyatt ran from the three men chasing him. Well actually he didn't know if they were men or not, he just guessed because they didn't have cleavage. At least that he could see.

He ducked under an archway and ran out into the paved road that was now cracked and covered in dirt. Damn giant worms crawling around Queens, they ruin the roads.

He tried to summon his armor but it didn't work, he hated not being able to do it since the battle in New York. He hadn't been able to fight either but he didn't think that mattered.

One of the men fired a repeating fire arm at Wyatt who instinctively ducked behind a car. Allowing his pursuers to catch up to him a few steps.

He shot out to the side of the car and continued running.

Then the ground began to shake.

"Crap worms!" One of the men yelled, yup, definitely men. Wyatt thought.

Then the worm surfaced, it was obvious that people had tried to kill it before. The dirty white flesh was scarred with tearing wounds and still had a few arrows, harpoons, and bloody spots. Both the green of the worms blood and red for people.

The worm crashed down on the cement and it's legs came out the sides. They were small nubs that pulled the worm very fast, especially in confined spaces where it could use more of them.

The worm started charging and the men forgot about Wyatt. They began to open fire though it did nothing to slow the worm. Wyatt almost stayed in the path of the worm but regained his thoughts and ran out of the path.

Don't go to the tops of buildings, he remembered. But the remaining man didn't know that. He charged into a building. The worm chased its prey and demolished the building.

The worm then dug into the earth.

Wyatt collapsed onto the pavement in relief.

When Wyatt arrived at the hideout Catherine and Garrett were already there waiting for him.

"So what now? Are we the last gods fighting?" Garrett asked.

"I couldn't find any, much less ones that fought back." Wyatt said.

"Well then we are the last gods of order." Catherine finished.
