Natalie had always been a fairly happy girl with a life that she was content with. At least until six months ago when her lifelong best friend, with who she had shared everything with up until that point, suddenly decided that they needed to end their friendship with no warning. My breath stops short while his focus abandons the finger picking at the front of his shirt to return to me, watching me closely and gauging my reaction. When he finds nothing, lazily lifts a careless shoulder. "I’m not above paying a visit to Reidy boy and teaching him a dire lesson about speaking of things he knows nothing about.” 


At that, I feel my face blanch, and I struggle to form a response and actually voice them. “How could-” 


He tsks and shakes his head, narrowing his eyes on me. “Don’t add insult to injury by telling me you actually believed I wouldn’t find out. I always find out, and I’m never foolish enough to make bargains or deals if I can’t ensure they're upheld.” 


I cross my arms and glare at him, anger spiking hot and sharp inside me. “You forfeited that bargain when I found out about Tyler. I think it’s plenty fair.”
