“Here you go.” Hector pushed the plastic plate on the floor, a piece of bread fell out on the floor.
“Really? You’re that afraid of one little girl that you refuse to walk up to me?” Layla said arms crossed over her chest.
“I’ve seen what this ‘little girl’ can do and I’m not gonna take any chances.”
She shot daggers at him with her eyes. Hector pointed to the food with his eyes, but she just went back to the bed and pulled the cover over herself.
“You really cried all this time for that fiancé of yours? He didn't seem like much from afar.”
“I didn’t cry.” She said coldly.
“Funny cuz I don’t recall you looking like fucking Rudolph.”
“Oh fucking hell you’ve been watching me haven't you you old pervert.” She said with disgust, turning to face him.
“I do check on you now and then, you’re too… let’s say unexpected.”
She just narrowed her eyes at him.
“Come on, what kind of amazing life you’ve been having that you’re so eager to get back to? I’m genuinely curious.”
They were both silent for a few second, but then Hector started again,“ He must be hella good in bed, cuz the way he looked, if you ask me you can do so much better, of course if you’d be able to keep your true attitude hidden.”
“You ain't exactly a peach either.”
Hector kept looking at her waiting.
“No, he is not. Happy?” she said aggressively.
“I see, so it was love at first sight.”
She rolled her eyes at him.
“Why else would you get engaged to a guy like that?”
“It’s complicated, and also none of your business. He sent you here didn't he? Guess what? He is sure as hell better than an asexual, lying, asshole, criminal, WHO DOESN'T HAVE THE BALLS TO COME HERE HIMSELF.” She yelled the last part looking around the room to the hidden cameras.
“Yeah, no he’s sleep.” Hector said with a faint smile.
“And you’re here out of the goodness of your heart?” she asked sarcastically.
“Hell no. But what we… I want will benefit us all. I might not know you, but I know what’s necessary. Your dads family came here after your parents death, and apparently you’ve been fighting with them almost everyday. They want you to go with them to Egypt. And your supposed friends-”
“So what, I should just give up on my life and marry your friend and be a pawn in your stupid little game? What if my family find me?my friends? My fiancé? I might have had a shitty life but it was still my life, I’m not some accessory for you to show off.”
Hector seemed hesitant for a moment, but then he stepped forward carefully and sat on the foot of the bed.
“I understand.”
“You do?” Layla asked with suspicion.
“Yeah, but that won’t change anything. I know you didn't sign up for this, but that’s what life is. You think he choose to be the way he is? Do you have any idea how much easier this would have been?”
“Doesn't that mean that he would have raped me?” she said with a poker face.
Hector chuckled, “sorry to break it to you but that’s a pretty normal thing in our world, hell even in your world. Do you have any idea how much date-rape drugs is purchased in a week?”
“Wow, it’s all rainbows and sunshine with you isn’t it?”
“All I’m saying is, the past is in the past. No one can change it now, all you can do is choose the less shitty way from now on. But it’s still up to you, I can’t make you do anything, you’ve proven that. What I can do is promise that if you choose to stay, you won’t be a prisoner. You will still have a life. You don't seem like someone who has ever crossed path with somewhere like a whorehouse, and believe me you don't want to. That’s no life for people like you.”
“What is that supposed to mean?”
“Face it child, you’ve been living a sheltered life, I’ve looked into it. You might not be spoiled, but you’re not that tough either.” He stared into her eyes.
She felt a chill down her spine.
“Anyway, I said what I wanted,” Hector got up and broke the eye contact, “think about it.”
