Arrogance the Problem with Power

Leon was bring some professors back to meet Tempest when she noticed a big fox atop the container with a very small person nestled on top of the fox. Getting closer Leon figured out who was atop the big fox, to her surprise it was Tempest. Leon was confused as to were the big fox came from as the only fox she remembers seeing was the stuffed one in Tempest's arms when they first met. Either way Leon needs to awaken Tempest before they can greet the professors. Leon uses an air magic spell to try and shake Tempest awake, eventually with the help of the earth professor making a localized earth quake they wake Tempest up. Upon waking up Tempest begins to consider whether she is also part cat as she seems to enjoy napping quite a bit.

The professors found Tempest's lack of response disrespectful and arrogant. Leon was a bit more reserved in passing judgement on someone who shows great talent in magic. As the teachers blustered on they awoke Tempest from her nap and she decided to silently observe them. Leon noticing that Tempest was now awake called out to her.

"Hey Tempest I see we woke you up."

Tempest didn't respond immediately making the teachers despise her even more. "Hello every one I am a mute so I will be using the holograms to communicate with you."

The groups of professors were still displeased with Tempest even after knowing why it took so long to respond. The first teacher to speak up was the head professor of the air branch.

"Why aren't you wearing a colored robe like the rest of the students prospective or otherwise?"

Tempest at the minute was wearing a white baggy hoody, a black skirt, and stockings. "I am not wearing the uniform because it doesn't suit me Miss. After all I use all elements with a focus on Space and Time, but there is no robes for Space or Time."

The group of professors all nodded their heads at this logic until what Tempest said set in on them. The group began clamoring about how it wasn't possible to use all elements. To prove them wrong Tempest used so "basic" spells. When Tempest said she was going to preform some basic spells for them the professors scoffed, after all what new student came knowing spells if they had no background. The professors were then astounded when she preformed spells that weren't taught because they were to hard to comprehend even for the head professors with more grace than a professor too. All the professor's had one thought what were they mean't to teach this student. The calmest of the professors the head professor of the water wing asked.

"Tempest if you have more knowledge than us why are you here?"

"I am here because I need knowledge on Space and Time and the person most proficient in this world requires me to do this."

"Why would anyone require someone of your talent to come here to learn though?"

"Probably because her and my mother think that you guys can educate some of the 'bad habits' out of me. I disagree they are great for instance scattering clones of yourself over the multiverse for science, also my criminal tendencies."

The fact that Tempest said this to them with a straight face and still doesn't understand whats wrong here makes even the water professor break her calm. To think that this is the standard Tempest runs at the professors now understand why her basics were not basic in the least. The most aggressive professor the head professor of fire noticed the final words and spoke up.

"What do you mean criminal tendencies?"

"Well you see human life is worthless when I can make more with the snap of my fingers. I have been hacking various organizations and reading their entire databases while talking to you lot. Did you know that five different governments are experimenting with combining esper abilities, magic, or cultivation and have progressed to human testing?"

"No... I see why your teacher would want these habits gone now. Well either way welcome to our academy I hope you have already decided on what classes to take."

The professors started to wander off now that they had greeted Tempest. Leon stuck around as she still had to hand out the mana trackers and explain the rules. "So Tempest now it is time for the rules. Here is a booklet with them. Now put on these trackers."

Tempest took the trackers out of Leon's hand and froze time in the same instance. Using her esper ability Tempest destroyed the mana tracking bracelets then remade a pair of bracelets that looked the same, before unfreezing time. After time was unfrozen Leon looked at Tempest quizzically, as she thought that Tempest would put up some resistance to the trackers the fact she didn't was suspicious. It was only when Leon tried to inject mana to get the usage records did she figure it out. Leon burst out laughing. "Oh that is sneaky, how did you do it?"

Tempest was surprised when Leon burst out laughing and was confused by the question.

"What do you mean Head Mistress?"

"The bracelets." Leon said between laughs.

"These are just the standard bracelets I have no clue what you are insinuating I did to them." Tempest was beginning to catch on to what Leon was cackling about.

"The bracelets on your wrists aren't actually the trackers are they?" Leon had calmed down a little by now and had put some thought into how Tempest did it, but couldn't figure out how.

Tempest realized that Leon had already caught on to her switch asked. "How did you catch on so quickly? I thought I had at least an hour."

"I checked. the usage records, which is done by probing them with mana. When I found that I couldn't probe them with mana it was incredibly suspicious. This is a standard procedure just to make sure the bands are working."

"GOD DAMN IT why isn't this written in your handbook : Introducing New Students for Teachers.?"

"Well because it is the sort of procedure that spread out due to word of mouth and also common sense. So how are you going to get those bracelets off so they can be replaced? I have to assume you have a way."

"Yes." Tempest freezes time again and removes the bracelets. "See all gone."

"How are you doing that?" Leon asks as she sees the bracelets instantly disappear and Tempest change position slightly.

"I use time magic remember? Also what element do you use Head Mistress?"

"Thats how you are doing it. I personally head the Space branch here."

"Oh so I will be one of your students will I?"

"Yes. I have to go get more mana trackers don't I?"

"Yep you do I destroyed the last set."

Leon walks off to go get more trackers and Tempest tries to think of ways to not have to wear them. While waiting for Leon to return Tempest decides to start reading the academies rulebook one of the few documents she ignored.

By joining this academy you agree to the rules within this book and the laws of the Witch's Coven. The punishment for violating these rules is subject to professor or above insight.

Rule 1 : No unauthorized use of magic on academy grounds.

Rule 2 : Fighting is only permitted in sanctioned duels.

Rule 3 : No murder of fellow coven members.

Tempest briefly skimmed the rest and found some more rules of interest such as all duel have a bet placed upon them and a guarantee of follow through. Another was that if a male is found any where on premise they can be instantly killed. Which would explain why if people wanted to get rid of a guy they would convince him to sneak into a coven facility.

Leon had finally returned with the mana tracker. This time it was a collar instead of bracelets. The reason for this was that it had more complex runic circuits inside and needed more space. Besides tracking mana flow it had a redundancy in case the tracker was broken or removed. The collar could also administer punishments through the forceful manipulation of the wearers mana. Everyone at the academy knew if someone was wearing the collar version that the person was a trouble maker or just extremely powerful, Tempest was both. Leon beckoned Tempest to come over and put the collar on.

Tempest had spent a decent amount of time thinking of ways to avoid the mana tracker. Her best idea so far was to isolate a small space between her body and the tracker meaning all effects of her mana would leak off into another subspace. However this would require a dynamic focus on her body and magic control. Something Tempest had not quite managed to get down pat. In the end Tempest gave up and put the collar on.

Leon being a great person decided to tease Tempest about this. "Nice new fashion accessory, very stylish." Said Leon in a voice dripping with sarcasm, before turning around to try and cheer Tempest up. "Hey all of the professors have to wear one too. We just have ours as rings or pendants though some do stick with the bracelets as well." Leon then showed off her pendant to Tempest.

Tempest however continued to glower and look depressed about the whole situation. Leon then said. "Well if you need me you know where to find me and no duels before the end of the week hear me."

Tempest looked excited at the prospect of dueling fellow students and responded. "I make no promises as after all I need some money and rare stuff."

"Well whatever just make sure there isn't a stack of paper work on my desk and I won't care."

"Don't worry professor, I have already blackmailed all of your staff to not put any of my paperwork on your desk before sending it to me."

"That is worrying, but I will ignore it for now." Leon's voice seemed impatient.

"Well good night Head Mistress."

Leon and Tempest parted with Leon heading back to the administration offices and Tempest entering the shipping container. Tempest had big plans to circumvent some of the rules involving her spacial tech and offering unsanctioned duels or other crimes. However Tempest wanted some more sleep before starting class tomorrow.
