Chapter Eight: An Unexpected Call

The next day soon arrived and a phone call came to me around six o'clock in the morning and it broke my sleep. I took it into my hands and couldn't see the name written on it due to drowsy eyes. I received it.

'Hello?' I said.

'Our boss is asking the reason for your absence the last day. He couldn't call you the last day because our land phone wasn't recharged because none of us got the time to do it.'

I jumped out from my bed, standing on my feet. I had totally forgotten about it due to my yesterday's adventures with Ionen. I quickly checked my phone. It was Fred Oliver, our boss' assistant.

'Hello, Mr. Nora? Can you hear me?' asked Fred.

'Yes, yes,' I stammered 'I wasn't present yesterday because I needed to go somewhere for family purpose. I forgot to take my phone because it was an emergency and thus couldn't inform you. Am sorry.' I was quite an expert in making stories and excuses in a short time.

'Okay, I will inform this to Boss, but it is totally up to him that he will excuse you or not.'

'But Mr. Oliver, our office hours start from nine, and now is six. Can you explain me what's happening? You broke my sleep.'

'Oh yes! I almost forgot. Yesterday Boss said us to arrive by five due to some special purpose. Thus arrive as soon as possible.'

'What purpose?'

'Some guests will come today, now come fast sir. Bye!' and he hung up the phone.

I had to reach the office as quick as possible. Our boss, Daniel Atkinson would scold me very much for being late. I had no time to have my food. I rushed to the bathroom and then straightly wore my uniform, tie and suite and rushed to my garage, took my Harley Davidson and rushed to my office. I didn't even wake up my parents or Ionen (who slept beside me).

I didn't get any scolding after reaching my office around seven because I and the guests arrived together. My boss was busy greeting them. The guests were two famous highly qualified cartoonists who came to examine our drawings. I had no idea why did they come just to examine our drawings. They quite liked our drawings and left within an hour or so. We were busy drawing cartoons again. We were left before our usual time. I soon went home and got inside.
