Keep Up The Act

This time, she found her date sitting on the sofa with the television on. He pretended like he was waiting for her.

"Done already?" he asked with a bright smile.

She nodded. Even the smile she gave him was strained. He noticed it immediately. That was how closely he had been watching her. And all along, she thought he was an attentive man.

"Are you tired?" he asked. His eyes searched her face for something.

"Yes, you know… work can be…" she trailed off. She sat down beside him and leaned back before sighing. She plotted how to get him away from his phone for a period of time.

"Give me the tea, baby."

She turned to him slowly, her face devoid of emotions. "I just want to sleep… I think I am hungry," she said softly. All this time, he had been cooking her food whenever she said it. She believed, that to keep up his act, he would do the same.
