Thank You, Father

"Well, sir," she said promptly.

Silence stretched between the two of them and Elijah looked her over from top to bottom. "You were attacked during the mission. Did you receive sufficient medical attention?"

Anna quickly realized where the conversation was headed. "Yes, sir. Three was extremely accommodating." Her posture was calm but her eyes followed his slight movements cautiously. Elijah moved around the office, picking up a vintage pen from one of the showcases and returning to his large work desk.

"The mission was wrapped up well but I have a bone to pick with you on the execution," he started the crux of the conversation early on. 

Anna nodded. "I understand, sir. I will try to incorporate your advice into my next projects."

Elijah had a small but surely victorious smile on his lips. It was like he was comforted that she would readily bow down to his opinion and not protest. It showed him that he still held power over her.
