I Was Not A Cute Child

"Excellent. I thought you weren't enjoying the food."

Ladislas gained composure quickly. "Oh no. We just walked all day, so we don't feel like eating. I overestimated what I ordered," he chuckled. His actions were natural, putting the older woman at ease.

"I see!" she claimed with a clap of her hands. She was a jolly lady, unlike Anna. But the similarities were striking. At least for Ladislas who computed Anna's strange behavior with how similar these people looked. The woman had grey hair so he couldn't be sure, but this woman had to be a relative of Anna's.

But… hadn't she been at an orphanage? Had he misunderstood that her family was dead? What kind of extended family allows a child to live in an orphanage when they are living a cushy life. He felt some anger on Anna's behalf.

"We have an iced tea drink that can make you feel better. Would you like to try it? It's on the house, of course."
