THE HUNTER HAS BEEN SPOTTED

KYLE POV

~~~~~~~~~~
I was in the middle of a meeting when one of my best analysts came in and interrupted us. He looked like someone had just destroyed his happiness by telling him there was no Santa Claus. Hmm, I wonder what happened to him.
"Sorry for interrupting, Sir." Brad bowed his head in deference, had the man been a shifter he would already have that part of the culture down since he was bowing to a Felix. Felix was the term we used for the Feline shifter Alphas, but no one in this room knew that aside from myself.
"What do you need Brad?" I kept my tone polite but let him know that I didn't appreciate the interruption.
Brad walked over to my side then, leaning down to talk to me personally.
"I am sorry, Sir, but there has been an accident. I need to go to the hospital to check on my mother." Brad really was a bad liar, did he think I bought that at all?
"Tell me the truth Brad." I had turned my head to whisper right back at him but still hid what was being said from everyone else in the room.
"Uh, umm." He seemed nervous for a moment.
"Just get to it, I have a meeting to continue."
"You remember my DUI from two months ago?"
"Yes I remember." Brad was a good guy, but was afraid to leave his car at the bar that night and opted to drive home following the work party.
"Well, I thought my hearing was next week, but I was mistaken and it was last week."
"So you're being arrested?" I was actually shocked. Whoever was here for him was keeping it discreet.
"Yes, Sir." He bowed his head in shame. "I am going quietly, but I was told to let you know I was leaving."
"Good of him for letting you inform your employer." I thought that was a commendable act indeed.
"It's a woman, she's waiting for me by the elevators." He pointed then and I followed his direction. What I saw then made me smile and almost caused a purr to nearly escape my throat. I caught myself at the last minute though. I had just seen the woman I was longing to see again. Even from this distance I could tell it was her. I felt my body wanting to react, but that too was pushed back by sheer will power.
"Alright, Brad, you go on, and don't give Jacy any trouble."
"Jacy?" He seemed confused.
"Did she not introduce herself to you? Her name is Jacy Kai, isn't she just the best?"
"She is very nice." Brad still looked confused but he smiled as he spoke.
Brad left just moments later and I was able to finish my meeting. When I left the meeting room I smelled her scent again. It was the intoxicating scent of raspberries and cream. Mmm, I remember just how sweet she tasted that night. And her cream was the sweetest I had ever tasted.
I remember hearing the yowling screams of my beast, the black panther that was scratching away inside my head. He kept telling me I had to have her. That she was meant to be mine. There was no reason for me to deny it either, I could tell just from how her scent made me feel.
As I took the private elevator back up to my office I thought about everything that had happened that night. I was feeling my body begin to react to her again, from just that small trace of her scent that was left. I needed to see her again, to have her in my arms again and under me again. She was like a drug that I needed.
And, Goddess, but I can't believe I had bitten her. It was a compulsion, a need that was so strong that it had literally overwhelmed me. But I want to go back and see if she had a mate mark from it. Was she truly my destiny? If she was then why wasn't she coming after me like I wanted to go after her?
No matter, I would figure it all out, sooner or later. And if I had anything to say about it it would be sooner.
I made certain to get off work on time tonight, so I could head home and see if I could casually bump into her as one or the other of us was coming or going. Hmm, I liked the sound of one of us coming better than anything else.
I rode the elevator up to the top floor of our building and went to her door. I had noticed that her scent was there but not as strong as it could have been. It didn't look like she was home. Should I leave her a note on her door? That seemed a little stalkerish. Then again, what should I call standing outside her door like an idiot when she wasn't home?
Oh well, I guess I better go home for now.
I turned to the left and walked toward my door which was right next to hers. I had moved here three weeks ago, and during the time since I never once noticed her scent, not until that night. Was that because I hadn't seen her, or was it because she had not been home? If she was a bounty hunter it is possible that she was gone on an assignment.
Oh well, she was here now, and I couldn't miss that scent even if I had wanted to. It was already too ingrained into my mind, my body, and my soul. I needed her in my life like she didn't even know.
JACY POV
~~~~~~~~

It had been another exhausting day. I am pretty certain that seeing Kyle at that office building was the cause of it all too. Why? Why did he have to be there? That's what I wanted to know. And I was still having trouble getting that scent of his out of my head.

I had parked in my usual spot, which was designated for my condo and was in prime position. There was a car next to it that I had not seen here before, it was a silver lexus, definitely brand new. Maybe someone had rented the place next to mine, that would be their spot if someone had.

My entire walk from the truck to the elevator and all the way up to my floor I still had his scent stuck in my head. What the hell was the matter with me? Why couldn't I get him out of my head? Dammit, it even seemed like his scent was getting stronger by the second. By the time the elevator doors opened I felt like I was already drunk on the scent of him.

Maybe I hadn't really been black out drunk that night. Maybe it was his scent that made me feel extra intoxicated. How can any man affect me this way? Did that really mean that he was my-?

I stopped myself from finishing that thought. I didn't need to worry about that too much right now. I needed to get home and distract myself.

I had just looked up from my feet, the things I had looked at the entire ride up to my floor. I hadn't even taken two steps off the elevator though when I noticed someone else was on the floor with me. And then that scent got much stronger.

The next thing that happened was that my wolf, the beast that I had kept in the dark, hidden in the shadows for so long, began to howl. She was chomping at the bit I had metaphorically put into her mouth to muzzle her and she was eagerly and excitedly trying to get to the man that was standing in front of me.

Right there in front of me was Kyle Donovan.
