Chapter 2: The Entrance to the Academy and the Ironrose Fight

They both head down to the mock battle arena we are in. It's quite a spectacular building with neon crystal reinforcement to ensure no one from the watching area gets harmed. I anticipate a good battle, even though Haruyuki seems a little too cocky. He readies his field and Eve casts a technique. So she is a nexus huh? She will have to be quite good to get accepted. She starts the fight by circling and dodging Haruyuki while summoning rifles and firing at him. She slowly closes the distance with repeating firing strong and weak bullets and using chain weapons to knock at his shield. Everytime he thinks there is an opening he would try a spell. Which either get blocked or countered. He gets pissed off and charges straight into her with a massive amount of energy in his right arm. She creates a shield but still gets sent flying into the arena walls. She coughs up some blood and says "I thought we were sparring but if you want to go all out…" she mutters something under her breath and a gigantic two story high and three building big cannon is summoned. She simply says "enjoy." I jump immediately in between the two and cast Icarus, a multi layer wing protection barrier. The force of the blast eats away at the layers, but honestly I expected a lot more power. I immediately cast Hades chains on her and lock her down afterwards I punch Haruyuki that he flies and hits the other side of the ring then cast Hades chains on him. With that I talk to the both of them "you are supposed to be the elite quit acting like children. I am disappointed in both of you. I will release your bonds now apologize to each other and go take a seat." They do as instructed and look at me like I am a kind of demon. I only used basic spells I was taught and minimal energy. My belief is to never exert yourself in any way, my parents taught me that. 

Immediately after they had taken their seats I begin to walk back to Emily who is healing Eve. However someone stops me. "I am Alister Flamesmith, a high ranking noble and I challenge you, what is the name of the man I shall defeat" He says. I respond "Neo Nevist, I accept your challenge." He turns pale and immediately casts his field and attacks with fireballs that aren't going to cause much harm. I put up an Icarus barrier again and ready my field. He collapses and immediately says "you win, you win. Just put that damn field away. I still want this school to exist." Hmm I wonder why, maybe because like me he didn't fully unleash his field. I go back up to the watching area and watch a bunch of other mock battles from people. They sure hold back a whole lot. Our teacher finally appears and we all stop and pay attention to him.

"I am Maxwell Majistar, I will be your homeroom teacher and assessor for school qualifications. First split into groups of nexus and nexos. Afterwards you will each hit this dummy I created with a month's worth of my neon waves repeatedly pumped into. Do not hold back as this will be your only assessment from me. The rest may further assess you to see where your skills lie. Any volunteers up first. No show of hands ok how about the great child of the Nevist family sets the bar?" I reply "Uhm sir are you sure you want me to attack it with my full power. Also is that really a month's worth of neon wave protection?" He replies rather annoyed "ok everyone I will place a bet, if you can destroy that in one attack you are exempt from doing anything school related for the year and you may even be the first, first year on the student council which has its own dormitory."

I say "ok I will give it a quarter of my full power only if you hold yourself responsible for cleaning up." He says "yeah yeah, quit being cocky kid." I summon a quarter of my field and people start running for some reason. The teacher looks terrified and moves far away. I use a simple neon blast spell and it rips apart the dummy and the protective arena barrier and some of the courtyard too. Mr Maxwell just replies with "I'm sorry I am nowhere near your level of power, you win by an astonishing amount. Blowing apart the protective barrier can only be accomplished by a few of the elite nex warriors. You are exempt from further studies and are hereby offered a recommendation to the school's student council if you wish to join. I will also talk to the higher ups about what happened and find a fitting position for you." I ask "if you are willing to do all that, will you do me one more favor, put Haruyuki Gojou, Emily Phoenix and Eve Ironrose on the student council too. I vouch for their power." He replies "I will try my best."

I decided to take the day off and rest in the courtyard a bit because of being tired from my little show. I wonder what my school life is going to be like from here on out, everyone doesn't seem as scary as I thought they would be and I want a challenge. Maybe I should pick a fight with an upper class man. Oh well the future has a lot in store for me wouldn't you say overseer?
