Chapter 3: academy life and the Ironrose crush

Well, overseer looks like today is another day of excitement. It's been a week since I have been in the academy and someone gave me a letter to meet them behind the school building. Is this that fabled love letter? I doubt it, I think people fear me too much, this is the point where I sigh. They probably just want to become number 1 in the first year class by defeating me. I don't even want the title, I hate being treated as special. I chose to stay at the student council building, but that will only be happening next week. Everyone in the normal dorms avoids me apart from Emily and Haruyuki, even Eve dodges me and quickly sprints away. Was I too harsh on her? I will ask Haruyuki since you can't respond now can you?

I go to my dorm room where Hauryuki is busy playing games on the Neobox. Kinda ironic since my name is Neo. I say "hey Haryuki." No response except a quick "wait" I draw Roselle and have it draw enough neon waves to get his attention. As soon as he senses the shift he quickly says "sorry, sorry, what do you need buddy?" I put Roselle away, it would have torn the building a bit apart but this dumbass would have been fine. I learned he is a physical close range fighter and casts spells only to close the distance. A poor match up against Emily who is a walking nuke. Him and Eve can't even be compared as Eve in strength is the closest to me in the first years. Looks like the strong attract the strong. The other two candidates are Alex Lionheart who is the first year representative and Liona Lightprey who is quite ludicrous at making lighting play. Anyway back on topic "Haruyuki I got a letter to come to the academy battle arena during class time. What could it mean?" He responds immediately "looks like you are in for a fight, better knuckle up bro." Oh great this sounds 'fun'. It will probably be over shortly.

It's time for us to see who called us here. When I walk through the entrance I see her dazzling silver hair and purple eyes. She is staring at me with willpower and intent. She speaks to me in a voice full of determination "listen, I wish for us to be a romantic couple but before that I need to know who of us is greater, brace yourself." She summons about fifty gigantic guns and starts blasting with intent to kill. So it's either love or death huh? Let's see who claims who's heart. I cast Icarus and run diagonally trying to get to her side. She is permanently swapping out weapons and adding more. How much power does she have. She begins summoning artillery worthy weapons and blows chunks off the barrier. I finally get to the right position. I apologize in my heart and draw Roselle. I point it at her and all the neon waves in the arena disappear. Looks like Roselle is going to need maintenance after this shot. She quickly creates a gigantic barrier and physical shield, but that will just suffice. Now fire it in the opposite way she is going to dodge. I needed to get to this position for one reason, I am going to show her my power is on a different level and I don't want to put anyone's life in danger with this shot. I pull the trigger and everything goes according to plan except she doesn't dodge, shit! She is insane, now I have to do it. Neon berserker mode. Put my reactor into overdrive and I can do anything. Wait I can't show my trump card yet, there is another solution. I cast neon crusher with my remaining neon waves and draw more from the surroundings. It still hits with an impact that is dangerous so I cast flash and instantly catch her and begin healing with neon waves. While she lies half cradled in my arms she starts tearing up. She says "I really am no match for you, you should have killed me because you could never love me." I say back "actually I love your dance fighting style. It's beautiful and effective so Uhm, I guess I have a crush on you." She touches my face and rubs some blood off "looks like I can just reach you." Then kisses me softly as I embrace her with neon colours all around us.

After that fight me and her got scolded while we smiled at each other. Now it's night time and I enter my dorm room after practicing. Haruyuki looks at me shocked then points to my part of the double bed. Eve is sleeping there comfortably. I ask Haruyuki "what happened here?" He replies "she burst in and announced you are her fiance and wants to always be next to you, then she immediately passed out on your bed. I heard about the fight. Why did she fight you if she loves you?" I say "so she can reach my heart. She actually managed to injure me, only my parents could do that. I have been brought back down to earth." Haruyuki just says "geez whatever I will sleep on the couch you take my bunk." I reply "no, she wants me next to her and that's where I will be." He just replies "fine man but no funny business I want some shut eye." I say "no problem, goodnight Haruyuki sleep well." He just waves and climbs to his top bunk he demanded he get. I climb into bed too, the space is small and there is barely any room to move. She smells sweet and I instinctively embrace her, she is soft too. Dear overseer, this is a good time and place to be alive. Goodnight to you too.
