Chapter 7 - equipment and information

Arriving at the bridge, he looked around the spacious room that was only accessible through the teleporter and had seemingly no other visible access point.

Looking around the room, he realized there were no screens of any sort whatsoever, just rows of black consoles with chairs, where his subordinates could take place.

Confused he asked Sarah about it.

"There's no need to have screens, the reason for that is at the same time the first item I would like to give you. It is a chip, that'll be implanted into your brain, but don't worry there are no dangers at all, and no need to operate. It will simply be teleported inside your head, and therefore there's no risk to damage your brain."

He gave an understanding nod, however, soon had a questioning look on his face as he asked. "But to teleport stuff, wouldn't you need a platform like the one I had just used?"

Sarah promptly answered. "Yes and no, the platform has many benefits and is essential if you want to teleport stuff that is a certain size or a lot of things at the same time, furthermore it saves a lot of energy and computing power especially over greater distances, as there's no need to do extra calculation about the destination, like the coordinates and the terrain and such. The chip though is different, because firstly it is relatively small and your head will be thoroughly scanned, therefore there's no need to calculate a lot, and the distance is small too."

Once more Vernond nodded thoughtfully, before adding another question. "Then, what use does the chip have, I guess it has something to do with the nonexistent screens."

"Yes, you're right about that, you won't need the screens for that because the information will be directly transmitted into your brain, in whatever form you want, however in the past people still preferred to project it in the form of screens, the difference though was, that only they will be able to see them and it takes much less space. Furtheremore it's more practical as they aren't bound to one place. Another feature of those chips is, that you can communicate with everyone who has a chip, if that person is in range of a transmitter, ours or not, it doesn't matter. Furthermore it has the option to keep the actions of the person with a chip under surveillance with different intensity, which the owner can define. That's the reason why generally no betrayals are possible, and can be immediately dealt with if still happening."

"The chips can also connect to me in order to report an emergency, or accordingly to the rank make tactical decision which will be delayed to the corresponding party. "

"Well, that will surely come in handy in the future." He said a bit surprised the chip can do so much. "Then when can we begin to implant the chip?"

"In theory immediately, however you will have to choose which chip you want to implant."

"There are multiple chips?" He asked.

"Sure there are." Sarah answered. "Depending on the rank and the authorization, multiple models are available."

"For you however, I would suggest the universal class X chip."

Confused he asked. "What do you mean universal class X? What's the ranking system here?"

Answering in her usual emotionless voice, Sarah said. "There are currently 8 classes. From the lowest to the highest, low, medium, high, great, continental, planetary, galactic and universal. Each of those classes is split between ten stages ranging from lowest to highest, I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X." (Roman numbers for 1 to 10)

"Alright, so you basically would give the highest possible chip to me. Another question, what level would you put the Norsu Coalition, as well as the Saris Empire at? I mean the Norsu Coalition should at least be at the continental, maybe even the Planetary level at, right?"

"The Saris Empire is estimated to be at the medium level, and the Norsu Coalition at the low level."

"Are you sure? I mean we are currently winning the war, are we not? Then tell me, what is the highest level in our galaxy?"

"Yes, I am sure, and the highest level in our current galaxy is at the lower galactic level."

"Wow, okey I knew that we were in a relatively backwater place, but I didn't know it was that bad. Well, I can change that in the future if I want to, but now about more important topics!"

He said with glowing eyes, expecting many good items, and finally wanting to implant the chip. "Then let us begin to implant the chip!"

"Sure."

"Please wait a second, while I'm scanning you..."

"Done. Beginning the teleportation process…"

"Done."

And just as she said the last part, he felt a sudden pain in his head, which vanished just a second later, as the chip was now safely implanted.

As he wondered if he had to do something, he suddenly received knowledge about the chip.

He found out, that what just happened was the chip providing direkt information to his brain.

Knowing how to operate the chip, he willed it to project the data and everything he needed on his eyes, that way he could access it all the time, but foremost this was the way he was accustomed to receiving information.

What happened after that once more surprised him, as a small ball appeared in his vision, which he shortly recognized as Sarah.

It looked like a blue ball made out of data, which had rotating circles of numbers and words so small they looked like solid material around it.

Looking at Sarah with an expectant gaze, he asked. "Alright, now that the chip is done, what else is there of use for me?"

Sarah pulsated a bit before answering. "The next item you should receive would be your suit."

He was a bit confused, and therefore asked what the suit was about, after all he already wore his uniform and he was totally fine with it, needing no other clothes.

"It would be better to show you than to explain everything." Sarah answered mysteriously, before a small bit of the ground split apart and a strange looking suit got pushed out of the ground.
