Identity crisis

Jake trained hard and he also feels like everything is going to work out fine. He had done all his chores, all he had to do was run two kilometers.

He made his way out of his apartment, because he didn't want to run in circles or something, but somewhere in a park to explore the city a bit.

The building he was in was a skyscraper. So he made his way to the elevator, which brought him to the lobby of the building in no time.

The entrance to the skyscraper was very elegant. A red carpet was laid from the elevator to the door and the walls and pillars were made of a red-brown polished stone block. The many columns and statues showing people in all kinds of poses were very interesting to Jake to look at.

Just as he was walking out the door, the receptionist spoke to him from behind.

"Hey boy, nice to see you outside again. Are you feeling better? "

Jake was confused at first when the old man spoke to him, but he quickly answered with a, yes, everything is fine. The man just looked at Jake, then nodded and disappeared in the elevator. What a weird grandpa, thought Jake.

Jake went to the nearest park to finish his quest.

He was thin, but not unsportsmanlike, so he was able to complete his training without any problems. It was already dark and he wanted to walk the last few meters on the way back. He ran in a park where there wasn't much going on, he was actually the only one.

The path was only lightly lit by the lanterns, so that Jake walked through almost complete darkness. He hurried to get home faster as he wasn't a friend of the dark.

Just as he got back to the lobby, he got the notification from the system.

It hadn't changed much, but Jake was at peace for now. It has always been his dream to become strong and fight fights, but he never had the opportunity or the necessary talent to do so, but with the system he was given an incredible chance with which he planned to make something great out of it.

When he was back in his room, he took a shower and then went to bed to go to sleep.

The next morning Jake woke up well rested and, contrary to his expectations, his muscles weren't sore. However, he welcomed another thing, namely two new quests.

Once the normal daily quest with the same tasks and rewards as the day before. But what caught Jake's attention was the other quest.

Jake was amazed at his new quest, since he had no family before, he had no surname and he didn't need one either, but now he had a new identity, with the same first name, but he didn't know anything else about himself. He had never thought about the family of his new self, but he never came into contact with them either.

He went to his apartment as this is the only reference point for any clues about his last name. He searched every closet, but most were empty. Annoyed, Jake went to his closet. The last place he hadn't looked yet. He searched every pocket of every item of clothing he owned, and that was quite a bit.

But he finally found something interesting in a bag. A communicator of the latest generation and not just any version, but the limited premium version, which costs a fortune of credits. He placed the communication device on his wrist and turned it on.

At first nothing happened for a while, but then the sound played, which shows that the device is just starting up. After a while, that process was also complete and Jake was able to begin searching for information.

A small transparent screen appeared on his arm and Jake first looked for his user data. Again he found only his first name and address. He searched through all possible apps that were installed on the device and finally after a long search he found what he was looking for and got his full name. Namely Jake Whitton. Jake thought his last name was a fitting one.

Jake didn't know what to think of his upcoming move, so he spent the rest of the day stuffing a backpack, which was also of a high end brand, with all sorts of things. In addition, he finished his daily quest in an exemplary manner and he also considered what he should do with his new status point.

In the end he decided to use his free status point for his weakest point so that he always stays in balance. And so he added his remaining point on strength.
