The Way to The Spider Queen Pt.2

Layla took out both her Iron Maces.

Adam took out his Goblin Chief's Greatsword.

Salma was unarmed as she would focus on using her Magic Skills during the fight.

She put her hands on the three weapons one by one and enflamed them.

Adam thought that his glowing greatsword looked very cool.

Right after that, Salma drank three Light Mana Potions. Each gave 30 Mana Points back.

Adam put his greatsword back into the Storage.

He had previously tested that enflamed weapons put in the Storage would still be enflamed once they're taken out. But even if his weapon was in his Storage for a long time, it still will go back to normal at the same time as Layla's.

Salma bought five Light Mana Potions. She possessed 12 of them.

Adam bought a torch.

They entered the left passage.

Layla was the only one of them that was armed.

The passage was very dark. But thanks to Adam's torch, Layla could see too.

They walked for a bit.

"2 spiders are very close. They're not moving, they're smaller than all the spiders we've seen for now." Salma said.

They kept walking forward.

"They're about 15 meters in front of us, still not moving, but... this is weird. I can clearly sense their presence, but I can't see them. I usually can see them pretty well in the dark." Salma whispered as she rubbed her chin.

"Are you sure? I can't sense or hear anything." Adam whispered.

"Use your Explosion Skill then, make sure to hit the right place," Layla told her.

Salma concentrated more on the two presences she felt. One was on the ceiling, the other on the wall. She opened her eyes and thought 'Explosion here. Explosion there.'

Just as she thought that, two bright lights appeared, followed by two explosions.

Right after the explosions, two spiders appeared and fell to the ground in the darkness.

Adam could finally sense them and Layla could see them.

They walked towards the Spider corpses.

"What the hell? Thank god you're here!" Adam said.

"Good job! You saved us, you know?" Layla praised her sister as she patted her on the head.

"I know, I know. I'll take care of those like this, you take care of the rest. Don't let me do all the work, alright? Hehehe" Salma laughed as she was praised.

'So even with a 45 Sense Stat, I still couldn't detect those.' Adam wore a worried expression for a moment.

Layla and Salma both noticed and looked at each other. Layla gently pushed her sister towards Adam.

She pulled his arm.

Adam looked at her.

"We're a team, you know?" She said while looking away. She felt uncomfortable when saying things like this.

Adam blushed for a moment. He felt stupid, thinking that he could do everything by himself. Not only that but a little girl nearly half his age came to comfort him.

He gave her a hearty smile and said "Yeah, we are. Let's continue."

Salma replaced herself behind the other too.

"We're counting on you," Layla said while smiling at her sister.

"Don't worry. I'm super focused." She said while giving her sister a thumbs up.

They kept walking a bit more. Whenever Salma felt a presence that she couldn't see with her eyes, she used her Explosion Skill. Once her Mana Points dropped below 50, she would drink some Light Mana Potions. She got rid of eight more of them.

"Four spiders. One of them is the same size as the ones before, it's a Concealed Spider. The other three are much bigger. They feel even bigger than the ones with the stripes. They're less than thirty meters away and not moving. If I focus I can probably use Explosion on all of them."

"Yep, do it," Layla answered as she raised both her Iron Maces.

Adam threw the torch on the ground and took out the greatsword. It felt great in his hands.

He could barely feel the presence of the three spiders other than the concealed one.

'Explosion here, there, that way and there too.'

Four lights could be seen in the distance, shortly followed by explosions.

"THE THREE SPIDERS ARE COMING! THEY'RE FAST!" Salma shouted.

Adam could feel the three coming.

"Layla, you take the one on the left. I'll take the one on the left. Salma, try shooting an arrow at the one on the ceiling."

Salma immediately took aim and shot her arrow.

The next second, three spiders appeared in the light.

Salma had missed.

The spiders were twice as big as Mutated Spiders. Their color was dark and a red stripe could be seen on their bodies.

Layla immediately sprinted towards the one that appeared in front of her. She raised the mace in her right hand and brought it down towards the spider's head. To her surprise, the spider used one of its forelegs to deflect the attack. It didn't waste any time and launched an attack with its foreleg on the other side. It aimed at Layla's core. She quickly stepped back and avoided the blow. Layla then raised both maces and slammed them down towards the monster's head. It managed to deflect the blow, but the strength behind the attack was too much. It had lost one of its forelegs and screeched in pain.

The sound that the monster made Layla tremble for a short moment.

The next moment, the spider used one of its legs to horizontally slash Layla. The leg looked like an extremely sharp blade.

Layla was faster than the monster and noticed its intention. She jumped above in and as she was about to land behind it, she slammed both her Iron Maces on the weak point that was visible to her.

The weak point she saw faintly painted in red was at the middle of the spider's behind, also called its abdomen. It screeched in pain and jumped away from Layla.

The spider was scared, it looked for its companions for help.

But it didn't find one of them.

They had all perished before it.

Adam started moving towards the spider on his side before it went out of the darkness. He raised his greatsword with both arms and slammed it down on the monster's body with all his strength.

The monster tried deflecting the attack. But the slashing power of the attack, added to the fact that the weapon was burning hot, made deflecting the attack impossible.

The spider immediately lost both its forelegs and the greatsword made its way into the spider's head. It was a shallow cut, but the monster had lost a considerable amount of Health Points as it lost its forelegs.

Adam used the momentum of his vertical attack to make a horizontal slash. This second attack couldn't be avoided by the spider.

Adam immediately turned his head towards Salma.

He found the corpse of the spider lying a meter away from Salma.

He had heard the sound of her arrow exploding on the target and felt the presence of the spider disappear, but he had to see it with his own eyes.

Salma had missed her first arrow. She then got ready to shoot the second one, but she waited until the spider was close enough that she just couldn't miss her shot. It was risky, but her Cat Senses Skill and high Sense Stat meant that she basically saw the scene in slow motion. The spiders were fast. To her, they looked slow. Although she could not even get close to the speed they had.

But all she had to do was let go of her arrow at the right time. And she did.

They both were looking at Layla fighting.

While the spider was looking for its companions, Layla finished it off.

"This was easier than I thought it would be." Adam muttered.

He was very surprised. He thought they would basically be facing three Hobgoblins like the one he had fought in The Goblin Chief's Domain, but it wasn't the case at all. He felt like these were a lot weaker.

"How come they're so much weaker than Hobgoblins?" Adam asked out loud.

[A Starved Mutated Black Widow's rank is [F+]. The rank of the Hobgoblins you have fought is [E-]. ]

"Oh, they're starved?" Adam was surprised, although he thought that made more sense.

"I think we're still safe though. We got rid of three of them without even suffering a scratch. We still have to be careful, they were fast enough to escape from the explosions." Layla said.

"Yes! Even I did it easily! Hehe." Salma bragged arrogantly.

"Can you tell the number of monsters left until the end of the tunnel?" Adam asked Salma.

"Ummm, about twelve. twelve and another one. Twelve and then there's a big one. The hair on my forearms stands up just thinking about that presence." Salma answered.

"We can also make our way there slowly. We don't have to go all the way to the queen at once." Layla pointed out.

"For now, let's continue forward."

"Can we stop for a bit? The two arrows that I shot used up a lot of Mana. With my Mana Recovery Skill, I shouldn't need more than five minutes for it to be at the max." Salma told them.

"Sure."

Adam put his greatsword back in his Storage.

"You still haven't tried your Acceleration Skill right?" Adam asked Layla.

"Yeah. I guess I still didn't need to." Layla answered.

"That's good to hear."

After sitting for a bit, they walked some more.

Salma stopped walking, and so the others did too.

"There's only one enemy, it's as big as the monsters from before, but its presence is completely different. It feels a lot stronger. We're about 90 meters from it, and yet I feel like if we take ten steps forward, it'll rush towards us." Salma said.

Adam could barely hear the spider's movements.

"The others didn't get hit by your Explosions. These probably have good senses." Adam pointed out.

"The one I fought deflected my attack, they're not dumb either," Layla added

"Oh. It's already coming. It's a bit fast too." Salma said as she pulled her arrow back and took aim.

The other two raised their weapons.

"It's on the ceiling. It's coming towards Layla. It'll get here in 20 seconds." Salma said calmly.

The next instant,

"WHAT? IT'S GOING FASTER THAN..."

Before Salma had finished her sentence, a giant spider appeared in mid-air, it was going to fall in front of Layla.

Layla quickly stepped back.

The spider was extremely fast. As soon as it touched the ground, it used one of its legs to slash horizontally towards Layla.

She instinctively knew she wasn't fast enough to escape the attack and used her Iron Maces to protect her core from the attack.

The attack was not only very fast, but also extremely powerful.

Even though Layla protected herself, she was thrown against the wall by the powerful attack.

Just as the spider was about to continue attacking Layla, it noticed Adam had jumped towards it and his weapon was quickly approaching its head.

Adam's greatsword lightly slashed the top of the monster's head.

Even though it was late to react, its forelegs were still strong enough to stop the attack from penetrating its head.

It lost one of its forelegs, but the other one stopped Adam's heavy blow.

The spider raised one of its legs to stab Adam.

But before its leg could stab him, a bright arrow hit its abdomen.

The spider screeched from the pain and jumped back defensively. It had lost a portion of its abdomen.

Adam raised his greatsword and took a fighting stance while facing the spider.

He raised his eyebrows. He was extremely surprised.

The spider was screeching ferociously and it was waving its forelegs menacingly in the air.

But behind it, right next to what was left of its abdomen, a shiny light could be seen.

The next instant, it exploded and the spider fell to the ground.

Salma received a notification.

[1 Mutated Black Widow has been defeated. Congratulations! You have gained 80Gold and 160 Experience Points.]

They both hurried towards Layla who had been thrown against the wall.

"Sorry...I'm kind of dizzy." Layla answered as she grabbed her head with one hand and used her other hand to push herself off the ground.

"Just that took off a third of my Health Points. Hitting the wall gave me a lot of damage. It also made me dizzy. Thank you for protecting me." Layla added while looking at the ground.

"Sure," Adam said.

"Did you see how awesome I was?" Salma asked.

Adam just remembered what he had witnessed.

"No, sorry. I was knocked out for a bit." Layla answered.

"Oh.My.God. Salma! That was amazing! You basically took it out alone!" Adam said with shiny eyes.
