DEFYING THE STARS: Falling For An Enemy

Lance and the other guards already escorted Princess Yara all the way to the capital of Avaria and by now, the gate of the royal palace was right ahead of them. Though the guards didn't wear the uniform of Welahan royal guards, they didn't know if it would be right for them to enter the royal palace of Avaria. As such, Lance halted the carriage to talk to the Princess.

"Your Highness, the palace is right ahead of us," he informed Princess Yara Amiel. "What will we do?"

The Princess was well aware of how her brother wasn't informed of her arrival beforehand. As such, she understood what the guards were thinking. "You all should enter the palace with me," she said to Lance. "I'm sure that my brother will want to see you."

"I'm afraid that's not included in His Highness's instruction," Lance replied. "I don't think the Prince will want us to meet King Malon, Your Highness."
