I Am Your Husband

The fact that Yun Che had turned into a zombie didn't cause that big of a shockwave in this family, on the contrary, everybody was delighted whether it was Leng Yehan and Lu Haixuan that already knew Yun Cheng or the people that just met him for the first time like Zhan Yafei and Ye Xingchen. The reason was that not only Yun Cheng didn't look like a zombie but he also was a good, cute boy. He learned everything very fast. Another thing was that he was the spitting image of Yun Che who had a bad temper. Yun Che often gave everybody a hard time, so those who got picked on would teach Yun Cheng to say some nice things to heal their broken hearts, though, in a way, it was self-deception.

Seeing that Yun Cheng could speak and was given the learning ability due to the unexpected evolution, Yun Cheng aborted the original plan of locking him on the fourth floor. Hence, the grilles and security door that he prepared were no longer needed. Yun Che had Lu Haixuan tear them down the day Yun Cheng came back. Also, he figured keeping Yun Cheng from Gu Mingzhe and his brothers would be impossible considering how frequently they came here. Yun Che went proactively to Xing Feng for discussion and chose full disclosure. They were astounded as expected but didn't ask more questions. They all saw Yun Cheng as a normal human being. So finally, the Yun Cheng issue was sorted, all they needed to do was watch over him in case he ran out.

While everybody was happy about Yun Cheng's comeback, another fellow was causing headaches. Due to his initial insolence, those who hadn't met him before made mental preparation. But after he poisoned everybody with his impudence, everybody came to a realization that mental preparation was pointless when dealing with someone whose cheekiness knows no bounds. The shameless fellow would make you wish you were dead.

"Master, we're home. You know what? Those people were totally intimidated by my majestic presence. You should really be proud of me."

And here he goes again. His voice came into the room before his feet. Ever since Chenchen got a pet, he took Xiaobai out for a walk every day, and the brazen, cheeky fellow followed them out in his puppy form to make trouble. He caused quite a mayhem inside Chaoyang. Every Peak member had to be extra careful when they were out in case they ran into someone because everyone they ran into would complain to them about the rascality the "puppy" had committed. Peak Squad was so ashamed that they wished they could bury their heads in dirt.

"Oh, sorry. Does it hurt?"

Leng Yehan was clipping Yun Cheng's nails. He clipped too deep by accident. While his heart ached for Yun Cheng, Leng Yehan put his finger into his mouth without thinking, deftly licking the nail.

"No."

If only Yun Cheng could feel the pain. He gave a puerile giggle. Leng Yehan was heavy-hearted though, he released Yun Cheng's finger and held it tightly in his hand. "I'll be careful next time."

The more insentient Yun Cheng was, the more painful Leng's heart felt.

"OK. Hanhan is good. Like Hanhan."

Yun Cheng nodded. He didn't sound affected at all.

"Like?"

It touched Leng Yehan's heart though. He turned to Yun Che and the other guys who were looking at them. "Who taught him this?"

Leng Yehan was meticulous and gentle to Yun Cheng but when he talked to others, his tone was chillingly cold again.

"Don't look at me. I didn't."

Lying on the couch together with Xing Feng, Yun Che waved his hand and shrugged but he darted a glance at Zhou Zeyu near them. Zhou was startled. "Hey, Che! I can't believe you just ratted on me."

"Listen, Yehan, don't worry. I just taught Cheng to say 'like' to you more often, I didn't teach him to like anyone else. It's true. Just look me in my honest eyes."

Zhou Zeyu then turned to Leng Yehan with a wry smile. He was just trying to be nice.

Before Leng Yehan responded, Yun Che suddenly got up and walked over to Yun Cheng, pointing at Leng Yehan and asked, "Come on, Cheng, tell Yehan why you like him."

They were all confused, including Zhou Zeyu and Leng Yehan. Yun Cheng pondered and then grabbed Leng Yehan's hand all of a sudden. His red eyes were full of honesty. "Like Hanhan. Because I'm your husband."

"Pffft!"

"Haha!"

Right after Yun Cheng said it, the entire room burst out laughing. Leng Yehan's face was overcast. But he couldn't get angry at Yun Cheng's honesty. As his eyes searched for target, he lashed all his anger out at Zhou Zeyu who was guffawing with everybody. Zhou suddenly sensed the danger in the back. He scampered off in fear after taking a quick look back.

"No, Yehan. I didn't teach him that. Trust me."

As he ran away, Zhou Zeyu explained with a whimper. After leisurely conciliating Yun Cheng by putting a kiss on his face, Leng Yehan stood up and scoffed, "Trust you?"

Right palm faced up, Leng Yehan then conjured a ball of floating fire.

"Shit."

Without further explanation, Zhou Zeyu dashed out of the living room. Leng Yehan chased after him immediately. Chenchen watched them run past him in curiosity but the puppy swaggering ahead of him smelled the whiff of fun at once.

"Whoa! What is this game? Count me in. Tell you what, I'm good at playing games. I'll make sure you have fun."

Before he finished his gibberish, the puppy started chasing after them in a hurry.

"Xiaobai, you can't learn from Uncle Heiyu. Uncle Che called him a rascal. I don't really know what rascal means but I know for sure that it's not a good word."

Chenchen stood still and lifted Xiaobai up to his face, educating him with a serious look on his face. Even Chenchen could tell someone couldn't be trusted, so it was pretty clear that Heiyu was a complete jerk.

"You taught him that?"

Back in the living room, Xing Feng asked Yun Che with a smile after he sat back next to him. The spark of insight flickered in his piercing eyes.

"Uh-huh. I heard Zeyu teaching Cheng something that he isn't supposed to know, so I added a little bit."

Yun Che nodded insouciantly. Everybody criticized him in silence, Weren't you teaching something that he isn't supposed to know? Oh, no, the naive, cute Cheng was soon going to be led astray by his bad brother.

"Teach me some."

Xing Feng leaned in and whispered by Yun Che's ear.

"What? That you're my wife?"

Yun Che leered at him after a brief blank. Xing Feng refused to lose the teasing contest, he took Che's hand and nodded, "Yeah, you're my wife. Very self-knowing of you, I have to give you that. But I don't mind you getting more self-knowing."

There's always someone that outsmarts you. And the winner of the contest was clearly Xing Feng.

All the eavesdroppers admired Xing Feng in secret. Only Chief Xing could get better of Che.

"You…"

"Uncle, I'm home."

Right before Yun Che tried to talk Xing Feng back, Chenchen ran over to him with Xiaobai in his hug and climbed the couch using his hands and feet. Having failed to strike back, Yun Che felt that Xing Feng gave him a seductive look. He scooped up Chenchen who was climbing very hard. "No one went out to get you. Why have you come home so early today?"

Chenchen's friends all loved Xiaobai. Every day, they'd split apart with reluctance until their parents called them to come home.

"I won't hang out with them anymore."

When being asked, Chenchen pouted as he fiddled with his feet. Now, this was serious. Not just Yun Che, even Ye Xingchen and the other guys looked at him. They all knew how happy Chenchen was to be able to play his buddies, how come he didn't want to hang out with them anymore? Did they have a bicker?

"What? Have they bullied you?"

Yun Che quit lazily lying on the couch and suddenly sat straight, holding Chenchen's chin up with his hand. The boy's eyes were all red. He was clearly upset.

"They said bad things about Uncle Heiyu. I don't like them anymore."

With weepy face, Chenchen pressed his lips, looking at him uncle with his tearful eyes. The grouchy, stubborn look on his face was heartbreaking.

"Really? What did they say about Heiyu?"

Rubbing his face while feeling bad for his nephew, Yun Che asked gently. Everybody came over. Yun Cheng had gotten familiar with everybody, he liked Chenchen a lot, too. Yun Cheng reached out his head to take him from Yun Che. "I'll play with you, Chenchen. Don't be sad."

Yun Cheng still stammered with long sentences but he could express himself rather well. His progress was impressive.

"Boohoo… Uncle Cheng, they're bad kids."

All kids were like this. The more you sweet-talked to them, the worse they felt. Chenchen dove into Yun Cheng's arms in a flood of tears. The adults were so worried when they heard Chenchen's harrowing cry. How much tasty food they had to buy for him to make him happy again?

In these dudes' mind, the way of soothing a kid was to feed him with delicious food. No wonder Chenchen was getting heavier and heavier. These guys should take the blame.

"What is it now?"

Yun Yao was making dinner in the kitchen. She came over as soon as she heard her son cry. She took over the boy in a flurry. "What's wrong, Chenchen? Did you bump into something hard? Let me check."

"Wuhhh… Mummy…"

Looking at his mom with his tearful eyes, Chenchen cried harder. Yun Che suddenly took him from his sister. "Chenchen, I told you, boys don't shed tears. Just tell us what happened. You can't cry anymore."

The entire house would be flooded if he kept crying.

"B-But…"

The serious look on his uncle's face was kind of scary, Chenchen's cry turned into sobbing as he forbade his tears from overflowing. Yun Che heaved a sigh of heartache. "I'm not forbidding you from crying but at least, you gotta tell us what happened. You just confuse us if you keep crying without telling us why. Look at them, they're all worried about you. Don't you feel bad, Chenchen?"

He knew it was too strict of a demand for a kid under 3 years old but he didn't want him to be a wimpy kid that would cry every time he stumbled into problems. It would be OK if it was before the doomsday but now, the plants that grew in the greenhouse just wouldn't survive. After all, they couldn't protect him forever.

"Okay."

Looking at the adults around him with sobbing, Chenchen pursed his lips. He then looked at Yun Che. "Sorry, uncle."

"It's fine. Just don't be like this again. You're a good boy, Chenchen. I love you the most. Come on, wipe away your tears and tell us what happened."

Yun Che first disciplined then coaxed him.

"OK."

And it worked well. Chenchen's sobbing eased down. In the end, he buried his head in Yun Che's arms and fell asleep. When the adults found out, they all shook their heads with a smile. They still didn't know what bad things that his friends said about Heiyu. But given Heiyu's character, they all thought Chenchen's friends didn't say anything bad at all.
