Here Comes Mr. Mo Again

As days went by, some quiet, some busy, it was May already, two months after the befalling of the doomsday. The weather was starting to warm up. The authorities had given a new order that all individuals and squads must bury or burn the bodies of dead zombies that they killed in case the zombie virus from the rotten corpses spread through the air.

To superfunction possessors, it was easy-peasy, so no one really had a problem. During the past two months, everybody started to know the usage of crystal nuclei because Chaoyang and Peak spilled the beans. They had become the squads that all the other squads looked up to because they always took them to quests. Many established superfunction squads only followed the lead of Chaoyang and Peak. They were getting close to their target.

Mo Wenyang of course was happy with it but not the other two armies. After days of investigation, the close proximity between Chaoyang and Peak was no longer a secret to them. Chaoyang's captain, Xing Feng was Mo Wenyang's cousin. If they didn't do anything to stop them from growing, Mo Army would usurp absolute power inside the base, which, to them, was disadvantageous.

Regarding this issue, Wang Wei and Wei Kan had been plotting multiple times. Their final decision was they would pick good superfunction possessors from their armies to pretend to be common survivors, they would register as a superfunction squad at the association to disrupt the reputation that Chaoyang and Peak had built together. But considering that the sudden sprouting of so many superfunction possessors was too abrupt, they then came up with a seed-collecting project in an attempt to lure the main forces of Chaoyang and Peak out of the base.

"They put forth the initiative together. You know what the government is like, they're a bunch of time-servers. I think they have either figured out our plan or felt threatened. It's a major mission for which every squad will send their main force. Needless to say, Chaoyang and Peak have to send their elite members. Your hard-earned trust from all superfunction possessors hasn't even lasted long. Whether the mission will be accomplished or not, they don't lose anything."

This day, Mo Wenyang came to Chaoyang Community in disguise after the conference of authorities was over. As a casual guy, he seldomly got serious, today, he behaved and talked like a real general.

"By the time the mission's accomplished, they've already made their arrangement. And if it goes in the opposite direction, the failure will surely discredit Chaoyang and Peak."

Pushing the glasses up his nose, Gu Mingxuan added with a composed tone. Xing Feng nodded to agree. "Indeed. They'll make some major moves while we're out for the mission. After all, they're generals, they aren't idiots. I assume their plan is just meant to cause problems for us. The base is in steady development, I believe none of them dares to sabotage the progress unless they don't mind being kicked out of Southwest Base. We don't do anything for now and will deal with whatever's coming at us later. What does my uncle say?

The three of them had worked out the other two generals' purpose. Even if Xing Feng wasn't in Chaoyang, they still wouldn't get to do anything to them because Gu Mingxuan was by no means a stay-at-home mascot.

"What does my dad say? Well, he says we wait and see. You know my dad, he wouldn't even frown in face of the end of the world."

Speaking of his dad, Mo Wenyang shook off the previous seriousness. He leaned on the chair and shrugged. Technically, Mo Army should be called Xing Army because his mom Xing Tianlan was the commander of the army, the only female commander across the whole country. Her rank in the military was lieutenant general while his dad Mo Jiancheng was the commissar of Mo Army. Their ranks were pretty much on the same level, in fact, his dad was slightly higher than his mom before the doomsday. But since he worked in the office, he was overall a pen-pushing guy rather than a militant.

"His decision isn't wrong. Don't worry, your mom and dad will oversee things."

Xing Feng knew how tough his aunt was. She was a thug as it were. Her dad trained her so she was even tougher than most men. It was said that she refused to get married and all she wanted to do is serve the army, which annoyed her mom and dad big time. Later, the commissar of her own army won her heart, which surprised everyone. Mo Family was a military/political family as well, so Xing Family wasn't fussy about their marriage. Mo Family, however, was never happy with the marriage. Xing Feng's aunt had a strong character, she couldn't stand being judged. Her husband didn't want to upset his family or his wife, so after discussion, he applied for a transfer to the southwest area.

"Duh, I know that. But what about your home-guarding beast? Are they OK with it?"

Xing Feng's home-guarding beast gave Mo Wenyang chills. He couldn't help but feel the pain all over his body. He had never been beaten like that before. The more absurd thing was, his mom said that guy did a great job. She even wanted to reward him. Mo Wenyang was so glum about it, he didn't want to be near that person again.

"What home-guarding beast… Che isn't as scary as you described."

Xing Feng chuckled. How long would Wenyang hold a grudge against Che?

"What the heck? Him? Not scary? Even brutal isn't enough to describe him. I think you're the only one who thinks he's the best. I heard you're his guardian beast now, aren't you?"

Mo Wenyang flipped out instantly. He then looked at him with his teasing eyes while his arm dangled over his shoulder.

"So we're a beast couple, aren't we?"

Without the intention of denying, Xing Feng didn't even try to talk him back.

"Haha. This is no doubt downgrade, which is pathetic. Can't believe you're okay with being someone's guardian beast."

Mo Wenyang burst into laughter, slapping his lap after brief bewilderment. Think about how the old Xing Feng was like. Such a proud man had humbled himself like this. Love sure was poisonous. Don't touch it! Never!

"I'll remember what you say."

Having taken a disdainful glance at Mo, Xing Feng loathly pushed away the arm on his shoulder. He bent over to get the teacup for a sip. He was so chilled as if the one Mo Wenyang teased wasn't him.

"You won't have that chance."

The laughter stopped abruptly. Those unserious eyes dimmed. A touch of sharp pain slipped through Mo's heart. In the blink of an eye, five years had passed and it still hurt. If one did have soul, would that person feel bad for Mo in heaven?

Mo Wenyang put on a wan smile at the thought of this. He wouldn't, would he? Because if he would, he wouldn't leave so soon without leaving even a single message for him.

"You miss Shaoting again?"

Mo Wenyang wasn't the only down-hearted one, even Xing Feng intentionally lowered his tone of voice when he mentioned the name. Shaoting was their childhood friend, also the most dependable brother-in-arms of theirs. But before his life got to bloom, it decayed. And he passed away because of them. It was the sorrow that they could never get over.

"Why would I miss him? He wouldn't miss me, would he? When I'm free, I'll marry dozens of women to piss off his soul if he has one."

Brushing the previous sorrow aside, Mo Wenyang raised his head with a faceful of pride. It could be said that he hated rather than loved him. After all, Shaoting chose death as his way to reject Mo Wenyang, which was a great disgrace to someone who always got what he wanted since he was little. Mo would never forgive him, not in this life.

"Oh, will you?" Xing Feng answered

He then turned to Gu Mingxuan, "Someone has said it so many times, hasn't he? Mingxuan, have you been counting?"

Back in the days, Mo Wenyang was after Shaoting like crazy regardless of the objection from his mom and dad, and even the military laws. The entire army knew that the young Mr. Mo liked boys. It was his golden days. He was young and passionate. Everybody assumed that Shaoting couldn't resist Mo's fervent wooing but when everybody thought they were going to be together, Shaoting died. To everyone's surprise, he was killed on the battlefield. Then the change of Mo Wenyang's life attitude ensued. He became less vigorous and his passion died out slowly. In folks' eyes, Mr. Mo became more and more careless and unserious toward life. Only his close ones knew the death of Shaoting took away his young and fiery heart.

"I'd say eight times at least. If Shaoting could hear him in heaven, he would have already got bored of it."

Gu Mingxuan ridiculed with an expressionless face. They were the ones that experienced that part of history.

"Hey, hey, hey, are you joining hands against me? I'll have my soldiers drown you with their spittle."

Having handled similar taunts so many times, Mo Wenyang was already used to it.

Only Mo could come up with this kind of a nasty idea. Xing Feng and Gu Mingxuan threw a scornful look at him without saying anything in return. Mo Wenyang said with a chortle, "You haven't told me whether your home-guarding beast would agree or not. As far as I know, they don't really have extra members. When they're gone, there'll only be the weak staying at home."

Mo Wenyang, of course, had done his homework on his partner of this mission.

"Che won't leave them any chance, I can assure you of that. And don't forget, they're living next door to us, Mingxuan can help out if anything ever happens."

The brain was Gu Mingxuan's strongest weapon whether before or after the doomsday, those people would never be able to outsmart them.

"True. You know, they're the talk of the town lately. What I've heard is they're quite good, it's just they're a bit too fierce."

Mo Wenyang just couldn't watch his mouth. He held them in high regard but had to add one more pointless criticism.

Not feeling like talking to Mo, Xing Feng held up the teacup for another sip. Gu Mingxuan kept acting like he didn't want to get involved from beginning to end. Mo Wenyang couldn't stay long. Before he left, he stood up and said, "Alright then, we'll stick to the plan. Make sure your home-gur… your man is in the loop in case things go wrong."

They'd planned it thoroughly for a long time. It wasn't allowed to go wrong.

"Won't you say hello to him in person?"

It was nearly dinner time, Xing Feng put forth a warm invite. However…

Mo Wenyang flinched in terror at once. "Whoa, I'll pass. Your home-guarding beast is the last person I want to meet. Are you trying to get me killed or what?"

"Ugh…"

Xing Feng moaned. What a wuss! He just had his ass kicked because Che mistook him for Fatty Xiao when they first met. He was now sincerely inviting him to a nice dinner.

Gu Mingxuan nearly burst out laughing but considering Mo was at least a general, he covered his mouth so as not to embarrass him. God knows when Mo would stop calling Yun Che Xing Feng's home-guarding beast. If he actually called him that in his presence, Yun Che would let him see what fierce really meant. Gu Mingxuan, in fact, looked forward to that.
