Chapter 13: The Road to Eliseandril

The raven was sent as requested and the following morning when the caravan left the Palace, it was King Gregan who rode in the travelling box. Rowan was mounted on her grey gelding, Dunvelli, and enjoyed the company of General Tarik and Captain Phalen. Lea travelled in the second travelling box with the other servants but would stick her head out and chat with Rowan once in a while.

Blossoms were out along the road, and when the wind blew, petals would shower down on the caravan like it was a celebration procession.

“I’ll take it as good luck,” Rowan smiled at her companions.

“Indeed,” said Captain Phelan. “We will need it.”

General Tarik looked at the King’s travelling box, and back at the road.

“Well,” he said. “If Rowan can repeat the feat of winning the Elves trust, we may be one more step closer to not having to patrol the river.”

Captain Phalen gave a nod, “Elinias will be a challenge.”

“Who?” asked Rowan.
