Chapter 19: A Friend's Advice

“There is one thing I have to do, Velemar,” General Elduine handed a hastily written note about the recent incident to a young Elven recruit. “This will be a long day for you, I’m afraid. Ride back to Eliseandril and give this to Prince Salinias.”

When the messenger rode off, Velemar gave a questioning look to his general.

“Your brother, not your father?”

“My brother will actually read the note and think about it. My father would just throw it out,” Elduine muttered bitterly.

With one last look at the cottage, he gave the signal and the group began to move. They rode for several hours, crossing the river from time to time on the barges to travel to their destination faster. As the Elves travelled, Elduine noticed they were getting close to the spot where Rowan had insisted she had seen the attack. He could see the palace’s towers as they rode along the river.
