Chapter 40: A Serious Affair

“Has he?” Lea asked.

Rowan rolled her eyes at her handmaiden and finally groaned in frustration.

“Fine! Fine, I’ll go.”

Lea grinned in triumph. Rowan looked over at her chests of clothes and cringed.

“You pick the dress though, I don’t have any idea what I should wear to an Elven wedding.”

Lea let out a little squeel and said, “Leave it to me, my Queen. I know just the dress.”

Rowan sent word to General Tarik, informing him of her plans and asking him to come along.

‘We might as well make our visit memorable,’ she thought and looked over at her friend.

“Lea,” she said firmly, as her handmaiden stood choosing accessories, “You’re coming too.”

The half-elf stopped moving, “My Queen?”

“What?”

“I’m...uh, I don’t know if they will be very happy about having a half-elf in their palace.”

Rowan frowned and shrugged, “This is a new time, a new beginning. You are coming.”

Lea bowed her head and covered her heart.

“Besides, General Tarik is coming.”
