Chapter 45: Not Always What It Seems

There was a pause. Those assembled looked to King Elinias.

“I have no experience with such a thing,” he stated honestly. “We have no mage with us either.”

“I thought all elves were full of magic,” Captain Phalen mentioned with an exasperated shrug.

The Elven King glared, and Elduine stepped between the human captain and his father.

Rowan cast a glance over the worried faces of those surrounding him, and the questioning looks of the waiting warriors.

“We have to do something,” she said. “If General Tarik is correct, even though we have the tome and portal, Salinias will stand alone against any troops Romiira already has in place.”

“He won’t if we can warn him,” The Elven General said quietly. “We just have to warn him.”

Rowan asked, “Do you have to be a mage to open a portal, or do you just need a key or something to open it?”

Elduine flipped through a few pages in the tome. He paused, causing everyone to wait in silence.
