Chapter 26: Cassie

The elevator ride down to the first floor had Cassie’s nerves in a knot. Everyone else was laughing and cutting up, oblivious of her anxiety. Even her mother was too wrapped up in Jack Sutherland to notice her only daughter was about to have a panic attack in an elevator surrounded by her peers. It wasn’t that Cassie was worried that Kristi would force her to do something she didn’t want. Quite the opposite actually. Cassie wanted to be asked, to be given the opportunity to experience the world of the Bishops firsthand. She wanted the rumors to be true. While she admitted she wanted to know Kristi’s secrets of success, what she really wanted was the scoop on whether the relationships in Kristi’s books worked or not.
