Chapter 32: Cassie

Together, shot glasses wedged between their fingers, they started back toward the others. “Good,” Kristi said with a smile. They arrived back at the table and set the glasses in the middle. Cassie was glad the rumors weren’t true, but she was also confused. If the three of them were not just having fun, then what were they doing? And what happened when morning arrived?

“Welcome back, ladies,” Chris said, as he took some of the shot glasses and started passing them around to the others.

“Now, this is how to keep a party going,” Theo said, picking up two shot glasses and handing one to Nikki. “What should we toast to?”

With a mischievous twinkle in her eye, Kristi lifted her glass. “To exciting adventures, both on and off the page.”

“Here, here,” Benson said.

“To adventures,” Nikki echoed.
