CHAPTER 14: LEAH

Arianna was in a happy mood as she had completed all of her outstanding missions and received a large number of points, which she used to purchase an elixir that could make someone several decades younger. But, because the elixir was a bit pricey for her, she just bought one and planned to mix it into the private water source that her family uses.

She didn't want to lose this new family just because they were old or because they were afflicted with a disease. She wished for the elderly couple to remain by her side for a long time. She wanted them to be present when she walked down the aisle and give birth to her children.

She couldn't be in a relationship in her former life, which meant she couldn't have a child or adopt one because she couldn't afford it. But now she has the opportunity to change everything.

Her nobility allowed her to meet noblemen, which meant she could marry any nobleman she wanted, unless she fell in love with a pauper, which Arianna was not willing to do.

Arianna couldn't go to the water source without being seen, so she sought the help of the system. She delegated the task to the system because it was her aid. She stretched her weary limbs and decided to take a stroll in the garden, maybe receive a nice massage from that young maid who had lately been added to her retinue now that everything was done.

She put on something warm because she wasn't allowed to walk about in her undergarments due to her condition, and to make things more interesting, winter was approaching. The new semester begins in mid-June, and there were just a few weeks before the cold was severe.

Arianna wheeled herself out of her room and was found by her nanny before she could reach the elevator.

The nanny informed her, "I was about to find you, the Duchess is calling for you."

"Is there anything wrong?" Arianna inquired as she was concerned that she had offended her mother without realizing it.

"No, nothing is wrong," Nanny Juliet smiled at Arianna and said, "You'll know when you see her."

How could she overlook the young lady's concern? Arianna had already shown her how hard she had been working to regain her parents' trust, as well as how hard she had been reading and being cheerful.

Arianna's serious and pleasant demeanor was all she wished for. She was still a teenager with a lot of potential. She has a lot on her plate, and as Arianna's nanny, she can't wait to see her grow up, fall in love, and have her own family.

Arianna sighed and had nanny Juliet take her to the small salon where her mother was already relishing in some jasmine tea.

With a smile on her face, Marylyn called out to Arianna, "Come here, baby."

Arianna was guided to where Marylyn was seated by Nanny Juliet, and the young girl rose up and walked steadily to where her mother was seated.

Arianna greeted her mother, "Good afternoon, mom," as she sat next to her.

"Good day, darling."

As soon as she sat down, she asked her mother, "What is going on?"

"I'd like you to meet a few girls and maybe chose one to be your personal assistant. You should start grooming your own people at a young age because it will benefit you in the future," Marylyn said, her eyes fixed on Arianna.

Arianna was aware that the lady was serious, so she paid attention. She had no idea that this day would arrive so quickly. She had never expected to have any lackeys or followers in her entire life because she was so low and impoverished for that lifestyle, but now she was about to have something that not everyone could. Arianna gave her mother a grateful smile and took her mother's silk-gloved hands in hers.

"Thank you so much, Mom; it means a lot to me."

"Thank you very much, dear. Just relax and choose anybody you feel a connection with," Marylyn said quietly as she offered Arianna a supportive look. Arianna warmed up as she listened to her mother's comments and awaited the start of the event.

A group of ladies between the ages of twenty and twenty-five sat nervously in the guest hall of the Duke's mansion, waiting to be called for an interview.

The Duchess was looking for an assistant for her youngest daughter, and it all came together like a hurricane. Who hasn't heard how much the Duke and Duchess of Lexus adore and treat their youngest daughter and child?

They all recognized the advantages of associating with young lady Arianna, even though her scandals were a little out of the norm, but who doesn't cause drama when they're young?

The butler announced, "The Duchess is ready for you, prepare yourselves and be ready!" They all knew it was serious business.

The ladies were summoned in one by one to the little salon, where they stayed for less than five minutes before leaving with the same look. Nobody knew what was going on inside, but the majority of them could tell something wasn't right.

Leah, a young woman of twenty-three, was among the ladies there, and this was her chance to shine. She had recently graduated from college, and finding work was difficult, especially given her poor educational background.

If she is successful in obtaining this position, all of her problems will be resolved. Her mother and younger brother live with her. Her mother is a factory worker who has worked tirelessly to raise her and her brother.

She simply wants to help her and offer her a better life so that she may relax and shop like the other madams, and being here was the best chance she could ever get. Who cares what the young lady does as long as it doesn't touch anyone's bottom line?

She was nervous when she entered the salon, but after receiving a smile from the young lady, she felt at ease and proceeded to answer as truthfully as she could because she could see from a glance that the young lady was no fool, and lying to her would only make matters worse.

Leah had been in the salon for more than five minutes as she kept answering the young lady's ridiculous questions, and she had a smile on her face by the time she left. Arianna found her dependable assistant, and Leah had gotten the job.
