CHAPTER 39: LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT 2

"Is that all you got?" the man asked sluggishly, his long and lean fingers tinkering with a lit cigarette.

"I promise you that it will be done soon, I mean in just a week," the man replied anxiously, his back already drenched in sweat as he faced this terrifying man.

"I despise delays the most, and being toyed with like this is something I don't appreciate, but I should be grateful that I am in a good mood. I need it done in two days, and if there are any delays, I expect your head on my desk," the man said slowly, torturing the middle-aged man to death.

"Thank you for showing mercy," the man sighed with relief and quickly exited the room, fearful that the devil would change his mind.

Arianna was able to devise a strategy for locating her mystery man while standing on the balcony, so she began the first phase of her strategy. Arianna returned to the second floor, where she used her keen hearing to determine whether anyone was present in the rooms without arousing suspicion.

She was conducting her bizarre investigation at her own pace, holding her phone in her hand as if she were playing with it, when she collided with a sturdy chest, causing her to come to a halt.

What scared her the most wasn't the fact that she bumped into someone when she was certain she was the only one in the corridor, but the fact that the person she bumped into didn't make a sound.

Arianna didn't even notice the man walking because she considers her ears to be the best after a long period of removing the special pills from the system, which piqued Arianna's interest in this person.

The shock came when she met the person's gaze, as this face was familiar to her. Arianna had been looking for this person for a long time, and she had finally found him

Arianna stared in adoration at the man in front of her, not blinking for a second. The man wasn't thought to be highly toxic like the male leads in novels with the overbearing CEOs; his appearance was average, but the air around him set him apart from the rest.

She'd never seen this face before, but now that her mysterious man was standing right in front of her, she was certain of one thing: "I think I'm in love!" she exclaimed.

"I can tell," the man said in a sluggish tone, and that's when it hit her: did she think aloud?

The man looked at the little girl, whose face was flushed with embarrassment, but there was something in her eyes that captivated him. It had been far too long since he had discovered something or someone of interest to him.

"I.....I'm sorry for that," Arianna found herself shamelessly admitting, "I didn't mean to say it out loud like that on our first meeting."

When he saw how openly the little girl admitted her feelings for him, he chuckled. Who knew the trip he didn't want to take would lead him to someone so intriguing? But who in the world was she?

Arianna's heart was still racing, especially after she voiced her feelings aloud. How will he perceive her from now on? She was a little uneasy; this was too much for her. She had no idea who the person was and was unsure if this was the right thing to do, but she was going to be stubborn for a change.

She knew how insane it was to be in love with a guy and then have him refuse to look at her or reciprocate her feelings. It was also the reason the previous Arianna died, and she was falling for the same trick again.

The man was looking at the little girl, who appeared to be deep in thought, and whatever she was thinking about, it didn't appear to be good, but she appeared to be finished sorting out her thoughts.

"Does that mean you were planning to see me again after this?" Arianna awoke from her trance when she heard the question and unknowingly nodded her head in agreement, earning the man a deep chuckle that made Arianna's heart flutter.

Arianna blushed shyly as she realized her actions were a little embarrassing. It wasn't a secret that Irene was inexperienced when it came to relationships, so her confession so soon didn't come as a surprise.

"Do you really like me that much?" The man inquired, noting that this was not the first time he had made this expression, and yet he had gotten himself an enamored little girl.

"Will it bother you if I tell you yes? You may not recognize me, but I am somewhat famous as a result of some foolish mistakes I made in the past, but I want you to know ahead of time that I am no longer that kind of person," Arianna quickly tried to explain herself as she waved her small porcelain-like hands at the man, whom she didn't even ask his name before continuing, "if you don't mind. Is it possible for us to get to know each other? That is, if you are available and free. I mean, are you a single person?"

When he heard the little girl's questions, the man couldn't help but laugh. How could such a young lady be so adorable? He could tell she wasn't a commoner by the way she carried herself and the noble aura that surrounded the little girl. Besides, how could a commoner end up at this banquet?

"Umm, I am currently single, but I will not be if someone is still interested in me," the man replied, making her sigh with relief.

"My name is Arianna Kendall, and who are you?" Arianna introduced herself by reaching out her small hand to the tall man.

The man looked down at the small hand that was approaching him, wishing he could hold it and stroke it. He was curious how it would feel if he applied pressure to it; would the small hand break?

The man still took the small hand in his large one and encircled it. The small hand felt soft and silky, but most importantly, he could smell the little girl's distinct fragrance.

The fragrance was too enticing; it didn't belong to any of the perfumes sprayed by these ladies, but it felt natural. There appeared to be many secrets on this little girl's body, and he was eager to unearth them all. What better way to dig all of them than to stay by her side unceremoniously?

"Maxim," the name rolled off his tongue as he stroked her palm, causing her blood to rush.

"That's a nice name," she murmured under her breath, causing the man to pinch Arianna's soft skin, causing her to moan, but she quickly clenched her teeth, embarrassed by how she was losing her cool.
